Was KITT equipped with a CD player in Seasons 3 & 4

In season 1, we see KITT equipped with a tape deck, which was very common in car stereos before the introduction of CD's in the mid 80's. KITT is supposed to be equipped with the latest technology, which makes me wonder if his tape deck was tossed and replaced with a CD multi disc system by seasons 3 & 4.

Nope. Which is pretty odd because compact discs officially premiered in the early '80s. I think they were first used by the government before the general public (the government usually is the first to utilize the latest technology). By 1985 and 1986, they were available to the general public although they were more expensive at the time.
However, K.I.T.T. was only equipped with a tape-deck surprisingly enough. Proof of this is in the season 4 episode "Deadly Knightshade" where KITT just happens to have a cassette tape of Mozart which just happened to be the kind of music the tiger liked to calm her down. Hey, you never know when you're going to need some Mozart handy!

Probably KITT did not want a CD Player because you know how he was with Michael's choice of music. He always bickered about it !!

KITT also used the casetteplayer to record sounds, speech etc. and I'm not sure if cd burners and cd-r/rw discs were even invented yet in the mid 80's

I think KITT was equipped with mainly a cassette player, but I think it was computerized. That was only a guess!

Good point - probably not. But werent' mini cassettes invented in the 80's and/or seeing as KITT is a microprocessor, you would think that he would have been equipped with a recording chip of some sort.

The funny thing is that nowadays, KITT would most likely have an entertainment database with XM satellite radio and P2P File-Sharing downloads.

If I were able to build a replica, you better believe I would have all that in there - plus more!

On a slightly different subject, the script for "Junk Yard Dog" suggests that when Bonnie plays Michael the video of Birock's waste site, it could be either a video, or video
disc.
That surprised me when I first read it, being way ahead of its time (although, again, early video discs were on the market in the early 1980s).

I don't think the technology was out yet to have KITT installed with a CD R/W drive.
I'm thinking KITT has an expansive hard drive system, which is where all of his video playback is stored.
