Need your opinion if this type of car would make a ok Kitt

I was wondering if a saturn sc2 would make an ok Kitt. I wouldn't be making the interior Kitt, just the scanner on the outside. I thought it kind of looks cute and it's a 4 cylinder so it would save on gas.I would paint it black of course but the interior is already tan. I know Fuzzie Dice has a Kitt as another kind of car. What do ya'll think? Here is a pic. The front does look like a mini Kitt in a way.

The car looks good, even if you don't do any modifications on it. Paint it gloss black and it will look even cooler, even without the scanner.

Looks cool and honestly I like the alternate KR stuff the best. Unfortunately if you've seen one KITT/KARR you've seen 'em all (unless it has a ram-air hood, different paint job, different car model etc.)
As far as I'm concerned KITT and KARR are whatever you want them to be. Although there are a few of people that will be there to say KITT wasn't a Saturn your wrong, those people are rare compared to those that will respect and appreciate what you are doing.
Most of us don't ever plan on entering these things in professional shows so what difference does it make if there are some inconsistances, right? In fact I respect those such as yourself that are considering joing the ranks of the conversionists. It's a very finacially straining, and time consuming hobby.
If you like it, go for it

If you have heard of those Lambo fans who stretch their Fieros to make Diablo/Countach replicas, you can try something similar. It's a lot easier with a Trans Am than with a Countach.

Go for it!

Knighted Rides could become quite popular. As you noted, I'm working on one. I even hope to have it good enough to show in a variety of car shows, maybe.
That car would look pretty close to KITT if you painted it black and put a scanner on it. I know one guy in Floriday is making a KARR out of a Pontiac 6000 (That's my Kitt's "brother"

) And I've seen someone do a Ford car with a spoiler and light bar.
Hey, why not? Who said it HAS to be a Trans Am? That's why the non-T/As are "Knighted Rides" and the T/A's "Replicas"
Have fun. It's expensive, but when you go along and see the progress, it is also lots of fun. Especially when you drive it around town and folks pay attention and compliment you.

Well, I guess if you stare at the design long enough, you can bridge
the gap between the knight 2000 Pontiac and the Knight 4000. Looks
like a mix of both.

I just need to find an automatic one. I drove a standard for 8 years and in the city traffic it is a pain. I will never go back to a standard. Herbie is different because he isn't a daily driver and he is only driven to shows here and there.
My husband is trying to tell me a Ford Probe would look better as a Kitt than the saturn. Hmmmmm

It doesn't look too bad but I like the saturn too. I think maybe he thought it would make a good Kitt is because of the pop up lights and the body shape.

Although I'm an open person on the Knighted ride stuff, I gotta agree with everyone else, don't make KITT a ford
Your good with the Saturn, keep him a GM!

Everybody's correct, I would also prefer the Saturn over the Ford any day of the week. Not only would it be easier to maintain (cheaper replacement parts), it is also more durable and has a more fuel efficient engine when compared with the Probe.

Why does everyone hate Ford so much?

I'm one that's been silent on the FORD thing.

My dad had a Mercury
Zephyr (Ford Motorcar Company makes Mercury as well). She was a
family friend for years. Very reliable. I hated Chevy's because of the
S-10s we had (I had one, my dad had one). I also had a Chevy
Chevette briefly. Nothing but junk.

My neighbor had a Chevy
Cavalier (well, he had two - got another one after his first one became
unrepairable). Now he's walking after getting rid of the last Cavalier.
I'd say go Pontiac if you can but if you go import, that Saturn does
look good. I haven't seen/heard anything bad about Saturn yet. Then
again I don't keep up with imports too much.
I don't mind Fords myself, though. I even learned to drive in one at
driving school many many years ago. Only problem that car had once
was a gas line leak. To be fair, my Pontiac had a gas line leak a couple
times too and been repaired.
I'm not going to vehemently defend Fords. I mean, all cars have their
problems, some more than others. My personal favorites are Pontiac
(GM) (always first) and Mercury (Ford). I hate Chevy (also GM) and
anything Chrysler.
What you make a knighted ride out of, it's ultimately up to you. But do
check places like Consumer Reports and other reviews on the car you
want to get (or google for your car make/model and "review"). See if
it has any maintenance issues that keep cropping up with other owners
and see if those issues you'll be able to deal with.

Did ya'll know the probe is really just a mazda mx6. Mazda made the Probe for Ford so the engine and parts are mazda, not Ford. My husband had a 90 Probe at one time.

I'm going to check out a saturn today. The fact that my husband is a Probe fan and will be the one who has the money,I might end up with a Probe

I got to be more persuasive. LOL

How about a Honda? Those cars are a lot more reliable, and cheaper to run.
Could someone make this thread a little less wide? We would have a lot less scrolling to do!

Knight Girl will have to go back to her very first post on this thread and
click on the "Edit" button way on the right (Scrolling to see it even

)
and then put these between the URL:
<url=link>Saturn Car For Kitt?</url>
Like that. Note that the < and >'s need to be replaced with [ or ]
appropriately. That will shorten the link and give the link a better
name. Then one would just click on the name to get to the car page.

Guilty by association.
I've only owned one Ford, a supposidely mint 78 Cobra II. Between the oil leaks, vacuum leaks, dead heater core and bad main seal (all of which occured over the course of one summer) I think I'm done with Fords for a while. I will say I like the new Mustangs, and would actually be seen in one. My Aunt has owned 3 Mustangs since 89 and all but 1 (the current one which is a 2001) developed bad oil leaks. I think the oil leak thing is signature of all Fords.
I'm gonna forget I heard the Honda recomendation

I fixed it but had deleted the pic. I think everyone saw it though.
The car was sold before I even went to see it. Oh well.... back to the classifieds. LOl

Good luck, Knight Girl.

Just FYI, K.I.T.T. was a GM F-Body car, so if you even grab a Camaro (though it's a Chevy so I personally wouldn't look for one) or another Saturn like you were looking for, you could get close. Maybe even a 2002 T/A?
Grab what you'd like, and have fun converting it.
