was the dash actually in the 57 chevy, or was it just a studio dash? are there any scenes where the dash can be seen in the car?

I never saw the movie...:-( What did KITT feel about being in a 57 Chevy and not his ever-so-famous Trans-Am chassis?

From what I remember, I think he felt 'uncomfortable' but apart from that, not much was said about his presence in the vehicle.

He did make it plainly clear that he loved being in the tomato mobile though!

GRRRRR.

What was the excuse for Micheal installing KITT's voxbox upsidedown on that dash, anyway? He drove KITT for years, you think he'd have known which way up it went!?!? When I first saw KR2000 I got a bit of a shock that KITT wasn't in the movie in his Trans Am body, but I got a bigger one when he was installed in the Chev. My first car back in 1987 was a 1962 Morris Oxford, complete with scanner and gadgety dash console with flashing lights, scanner speed control, etc. Man, I miss that car. Here's an idea of what it looked like, but mine was a cream colour.

Hmmm....looks better black. Not quite a 57 Chev, either...

Nope, I don't see any shots with the dash inside, so I'm pretty sure it was just a studio dash, which wouldn't suprise me since that was common on the series as well.

The dash was all funky, and it was probably because of poor construction by the art department. As you can see from that close up shot, the two halfs of KITT's voice box is not aligned to each other. Also the voice bar lines don't reflect KITTs voice properly. For instance, the scene where this is captured from, that is the highest the bars go, and KITT was saying alot. The display was blank for alot of it.

like i said they slapped the movie together...they didn't do a checklist of anysort...they didn't make sure that the movie was correct....they just filmed it without fixing the mistakes.....

i've seen the movie lots of times..
i just noticed his voicebox thing was upside down. you'd think they'd notice that.. or david would say something.

the movie wasn't all that bad. yeah it did have it's weak points, but would you rather have KR2010? or TKR?

I thought that perhaps the lights did something different on the dash. Sure, its a visual refference to KITTs old form, but nothing on the dash is really from KITTs old form short of the voice box. I do however recall now the carcas on the table, and those bars being there, perhaps Michael just liked it better. Perhaps it was something that bugged him the whole time, and now, without Bonnie in the way, he can rebuild KITT anyway he wanted!

So we all agree KITT's voxbox was upsidedown. That therefore means that in the pic supplied, that KITT was in Auto Cruise and Pursuit at the same time. I'm not sure if that situation occurred before. But let's open a real can of worms: where did the eyeball-type camera come from? It obviously was supposed to be KITT's vision, as it moved around when KITT was powered up on the table. Were they trying to make us believe that it was mounted on the dash somewhere? Not in my mid's eye view of that beautiful piece of hardware.

i always wondered where the 'eye' camera came from.. but you know, i think it might've been buried inside the dash somewhere. i don't know.

KITT said in 'just my bill' that he found his way around by the computer thingy. not some eye.

Another aspect you have to remember with Knight Rider 2000 is that it was meant to be about 14-15 years after the original series and 10 years after michael had left the foundation. That means there was at least 4 more years of Michael and Kitt working together where he may have been updated many more times and had a different dash once again to what we last saw him with. That 'eye' thing could've been a new development designed by Bonnie or whoever was looking after him at the time.

As for the shabby recreation of the dash for the Chevy, I think it was meant to look sloppy as Michael was not a fully trained techy and Kitt was only meant to be in there temporarily.
