The original is still the best.

The original is beloved by all, however it's a fantasy to pretend that anything new isn't needed or warranted. The reality is that every single attempt to revive the series since the original series went off the air has failed, usually spectacularly. Knight Rider 2000 was supposed to be a backdoor pilot for a new series, but it never materialized. TKR ran for one season and is better than many of us remember, but it failed to gain traction and never got the season 2 that it deserved. Same with Knight Rider 2008. It had a successful pilot movie, but went downhill fast with ratings once the series came out. It also should have gotten a season 2 as it was just starting to find its footing, but never got the chance to explore it. A big screen adaptation has been talked about and effectively been in limbo since the late 90's, so it's way overdue for it to actually happen. But having watched, and LOVED, the "Cobra Kai" series, I feel way more confident and relived that it's in their creators' hands. They knocked that series out of the park in every single way that mattered, and they found the magical balance of something new with the nostalgia needed to keep the core fans happy throughout. With them tasked with bringing KR to the silver screen, I think they could have a chance at a very big success if they keep that formula intact. But it's way beyond time to pass the baton from the original series and its characters to a new cast, for a new generation of fans.

They say they are eyeing The tesla or a Dodge Charger to be the new Kitt definitely going the electric car route.

Ugh, if it's a Tesla of any kind, I'll seriously boycott. Just the idea of it made me throw up a little in my mouth just now.
