How about this as the "true" final episode of the series? It would even serve as a nice lead-in to KR2000.

Wonderful episode, btw. The acting, the story, the music...it all just fits. And it's not even a regular KR-type of story...it just works.

It's always been my fave episode of the series, ever since i first saw it, it was an instant favourite!

it is indeed a beautiful episode, even if it wasn't ur typical action piece.

it shoulda been the last episode but wasn't.

Was only hasselhoff's request but was denied!

Only if Micheal didn't go back to the foundation at the end.

Stevies death would be the perfect reason for Micheal to have left for KR2000.

Was just about to emphasis the fact of him returning to FLAG myself. Oh well you snooze you loose.

I wonder if devon gave him lots of time off after that though...once he went back.

I know he had a big break when he was with stevie but i think losing your wife would grant another.

The story works for me because it

1) Starts out with SPM in an actual purpose (the race is to beat the cops to the govt data center since they cant get their fast enough to nab the bad guys) and not just for show.

2) Micheal gets put in jeopardy, something that only the pilot written by Larson actually showed Micheal was vulnerable to gun shots too. Too often in the series he could escape the bullets and continue onward but this time it was just too much to bare.

3) KITT actually sat idle waiting for him (9 days), showing how co-dependent each part of the partnership was.

4) RCIII actually makes sense here, Devon and Bonnie arent relating well to Micheal's choice and RCIII steps in and reminds Micheal who his family really is and says, "Your still weak I can still tackle you if I have to, your not leaving them without saying goodbye first."

5) Seperate times if Micheal had come back and given an effort to stopping Durnate Stevie would have lived. Instead each time he did little to stop him and Durante took advantage of it by shooting Stevie.

6) There isnt another time in the entire series where you see Devon and RCIII spring into action. 83 other episodes and you barely see Devon get out and run after anyone or take a bullet. Here he does so along with RCIII.

These are just some points about why the episode is in the top 10 of the best written and acted KR's. Its a rare 4th season story that shines, but Micheal's fustration with aborted vacations starts with KITTnap.

Just like Junk Yard Dog, its one of the polished bright spots in the series and a welcome change of pace for the series that is short lived. Alan Levi used this as a basis for the Knight Rider 2000 movie and Micheal suffering the effects of being burnt out.

Well, Durant didn't intend to kill Stevie, he was shooting for Michael. Steve saw the gunman and put herself between him and Michael. I do agree that this would have been the best episode to end the series on. Not "Doo Doo Knight" as Knightimmortal put it. LOL

I think this is a concept that has been worn to death by everybody, yeah, it would have made a great finale to the series, but it wasn't, and no matter how hard we click our heels and hope, it is never going to be the finale to the series. Everybody has virtually agreed that it would have been the ultimate finale to the series, but to be honest, it is getting a little tiring with people suggesting it when history can not be changed.

It was an amazing episode, but it is what it is, it aired where it aired, it was filmed where it was filmed in the production count, and that is how history played out.

i could just check script dates but i am hoping you, KI, or someone might know off by heart.

Killer KITT's final script revision was after the Scent of Roses, and it's production number is in fact later than Scent of Roses, so it at least did come after of SOR, that much I can tell you off of my noggin.
