Charles, your model looks good, quite possibly the best glossy black paint job on him I have ever seen. but for future reference, the silver parts of KITT's rims are not chrome but more of a satin almost flat silver color and there are 'recesses' that should be painted black to give the rims depth. if you want to know a easy step by step way to duplicate this here it is.
step 1: take the rims, and remove the chrome by submerging them with any ammonia based cleaner or bleach for a while. remove the wheels rinse them under water and use an old toothbrush to remove any remaining chrome.
step 2: using a fine grit sand paper remove the Pontiac 'arrowhead' from the center of the rim.
step 3: paint the rim black, let dry, then paint the outer rim edge and the 'fins' that go from the rim to the 'bowling ball cap' center with some silver paint (Testors Aluminum is a what I use)with either a FINE tip brush, or a toothpick dipped in some paint from the paint jar's cap, let dry.
step 4: mask off the rim leaving only the 'bowling ball cap' center exposed (only if you plan on using spraypaint to paint it, if used with a brush, then use a nice fine brush and use thin coats) spray the center black, let dry. once the rim is dry, spray with a sealer (Testors makes both a satin and a gloss, and a HIGH gloss coat clear).
step 5: then just mount the rim to the back of the inner rim in between the tires.
if you have any questions, feel free to PM me, I have done many KR models (a few 80s KITTs, a K4000 aka red KITT, and am working on a K3000 aka Mustang KITT) over the years as well as other TV/Movie cars/trucks/sci fi.
