For anyone in the California area, some of us are planning a get together at the El Mirage Dry lake. The Location of the original series opening credits.
Right now it looks like most of the activities will take place around mid-day on Sun June 14. Depending how far you are coming, the best option may be to camp out Saturday night.

Bring your own food and grill, but things will likely end up being pot luck. Be sure to bring well over the normal amount of fluids, as it is the middle of the desert and you will drink what you have very quickly.

Assuming that it doesn't rain, you will be allowed to bring your car out on the lake bed. There is no speed limit on the lake but please be safe.

remember, dont leave trash, bring armor all to protect your cars and bring plenty of water, sunscreen and emergency supplies. the heat is no joke.

Some people are expressing concerns over the heat and the dust.
I decided to upload some raw footage for you to help you guys better decide if you're up for it.
This was actually taken by a professional cameraman between takes of a TV show. Sadly he was used to a larger camera and tripod and didn't have much luck. But you can kinda get an idea how much fun it is.

RSVP to me or post here and let me know if its something you want to do. Or if you would rather meet at a less rugged location.

-The park does have bathrooms for those who are asking. I can't remember if they had running water or not.

Perhaps I should bring my truck out there instead of my car...

i might be interested. that'd be cool to get a picture of my car on the dry lake bed. and apparently apple valley is like, 4.5 hours from here. how far is it from the lake bed? what about other closer towns? what will the temps be like, same as here, 100+? have you been to apple valley and does it have a cheapo hotel? as i dont do well in the heat, so wouldn't be able to stay out long without being in some a/c area out of the sun.

I live in Apple Valley, most of the hotels are in Victorville near the 15 freeway, most are not cheap.

AV is 4.5 hours from here, that doesnt sound right cuz from lookin at the map it looks like its not that far from the old air force base.

Hi All!!!

I just joined after reading the topic and I think it would be really cool. I do live pretty close to the dry lake, I'm in Victorville and I was just by there last week and it's only about 15 miles from my house. Now I don't have a KI2T replica but I do have a 2003 Mustang that really likes to go fast. Well I would like to make it and I'd try hard to but I might have to work that day but I would look forward to meeting some of you now that you're in my neck of the woods. I probably met some of you in Vegas back in March!!

Its a bit of a drive for me, but not bad, I have gone up to Palomar Mountain more than once and just driven around the area all day so the trip up to El Mirage is no biggie...

Well I've got my eye on the weather reports. So far they are still saying it will be sunny, so lets all cross our fingers. I'll probably be arriving at the lake at noon or 1 on Sunday the 14th. I'll be stopping to get lunch and last minute supply's at http://www.charliebrownfarms.com/ right before getting to the lake. After having fun on the lake we can set up our grills, cook our food, and then sit back and watch the sun set. Don't forget to bring a cooler with plenty to drink (not just the alcoholic kind that is) And bring what ever you feel like eating and a little extra to share... but don't come with nothing and expect to not be hungry. I have a friend bringing a grill, but if anyone has one bring it.

Here are the directions from LA.
5 North to Highway 14 East. Take Angleles Forest Hwy exit towards Pearblossom Hwy / CA 138.
(becomes 18) Take CA 18 East toward Victorville turn left onto Sheep Creek Road / Old Phelan Rd.
Turn Right on El Mirage Road.
Go 2 miles east on El Mirage Road look for El Mirage lake access on the left.
Long and lat is 34.651568, -117.598858

I was checking up on the weather for Sunday and I came across this site:

http://www.landracing.com/index.php?opt ... 4&Itemid=0

Apparently its possible to break 200 MPH on the lake bed... the speedo on the lotus only goes to 180......
