Just found out that the company who licensed ERTL modelkits & diecast models Auto World Round 2 has also re-released or will release few old MPC modelkits, for instance Dukes of Hazzard General Lee, Roscoe's policecar, etc. I hope they'd re-release the old MPC Knight Rider KITT modelkit too but I wonder if Aoshima has nowdays exclusively the rights to do KITT modelkits? Aoshima KR models are rare and hard to find, I think these Auto World AMT/MPC -models might be easier to find and more widely available when released:

There's also the AMT line, some 70's truck models were seen in KR episodes. This Freightliner model could even be good base to be converted to Goliath model:

They'll do also Batmobile in 1/32 scale, I like the retro-style box art this company use

I hope the Dukes has the correct body, I brought the latest plastic model release and around the rear window is completely wrong, it is flush rather than having the two extended wings coming down each side.

andy there are 2 ways to do a 'correct' general lee.

1: get a monogram 1969 charger kit which has the 'correct' roof and either remove the vinyl top by sanding it or swapping the body shell from a 1968 charger which does NOT have the vinyl top and can be ordered for free (but you pay for shipping) from revell/monogram.

2: pick up the "Fast and the Furious" 70 charger kit from AMT even tho it is a 70 year car the body shell's on both cars were the same only the 'fake' door mounted scoop, and front grille was different on the 2 cars. and from what I heard the 70 charger kit DOES have the correct roof just use the 'general lee' parts and decals and combine the 2.

personally, i think using the revell/monogram kit is a better choice for one, its a all new tooling (well it was new in the mid late 90s) apposed to the MPC/AMT general that dates back to the 70s. the outer wheel rims and tires from the AMT general will work with the inner wheels in the revell/monogram car. if you need any help making a 'correct' general lee let me know I have done a few .

the KITT models shared the tooling with the 82-92 Firebird and Trans Am cars. that is why if you get a mid/late 80s KITT or the one from the 2000s you will see things like a Firebird logo and TURBO Trans Am and door molding strips that protect the doors on the 1/1 cars. Also the front fender 'vents's which were not on late 80s early 90s cars so they were not on the late 80s KITT models or the 00's re release. if you want to do a 'correct' KITT you have no choice but to find a 1st issue 80s' KITT model with the MPC markings on the box. the best way to tell is if it has the 'golden wheels' promotion on the side of the box (yellow box with 4 mag wheels and tires and some text). if you see a KITT model on ebay ask the seller if it is one with the vents (if it is not sealed) and if it has the GW promo (if it is sealed).
