Hello All,

I always read and hear people talking about how the scanner of KITT in the pilot movie is different from the scanner in the series. I cant spot the difference!!!
Also, the different "nose" for the different seasons used for KI2T. I cant really see that big change through out the seasons.
Can you help? if you can post pictures that show clearly the differences then that would be perfect.

The first two pictures below are the original scanner, which we see about 50% of the time in the pilot, this is because these scenes were part of the presentation made by Glen Larson and his crew to NBC/Universal. Once they got the greenlight for a full series they filmed the rest of the pilot with the newer version of KITT.

Original scanner:
(note the nose of the car, it's basically the normal Trans-Am nose with a hole cut out for the scanner bar)


(the original scanner's light was also different, as can be seen here it resembles more of a long complete light that moved back and forth)


These two pictures show the scanner used for the rest of the pilot and the series itself:
(the scanner's light is now clearly made up of eight individual lights. Whereas the original scanner could also have had these, it's now much clearer)


(here you can see the nose has now been fully customised to give KITT his unique front end)


In the third series the scanner light changed slightly again, the lights were a little dimmer and the way it "scanned" changed slightly too - it no longer seemed to "slow down" (or "gather") at either end of the scanner bar as much as it did in the first two years, a shame really because I liked that effect.

i dont think so,looks the same.The scanner that is only avible like that is from auto indulgence(autoi).Its 4K$

As far as I know, nothing changed with the scanner in the new series.

Just like i said there is one of a kind of scanner like that

Yeah but the one on the show would've been custom-made by them, it wasn't the replica you mentioned in your last reply.

What i mean is in the Plot movie and the new series they had same scanner because there is one of a kind like that.By auto indulgence and TAOWORM has one.

It is expensive too

This is what I know my self, its the same in Pilot and the series.
But I keep hearing some members on the board saying "I got a scanner from the Pilot" and another "I got a replica from the Seriers" and that what raised the question for me. It sounds like they are different from one another. maybe not in the look, but in the way it glows.

Or maybe its just what they think or what they decided to say,get me ?

Could be. I watched the pilot and and episod yesterday and tried to find a difference, but no luck
