Just been watching Part 1 of KOTP on Bravo UK, and noticed the copyright
year in the end credits is 1977! Shurely shome mishtake? How come it has
the year 1977 in the copyright, when we all know it was made in 1982 . . . ?

The script was copyrighted in 1977. Copyrights are generally issued to the scripts first.

I wonder how KR would've looked if it went into production in 1977 . . . ?

Most likely, drastically different. But most shows don't get created, accepted, and slammed together overnight.

KITT would have probably looked like the Trans-Am from Smokey & The Bandit.

Hey, i just got a die-cast of that car......pretty nice! Didn't realize it was to another show till later on. I just saw "Trans-am", and that was it, straigfht to the register i went.

ANYWAAAAAY....Yeah, that big painting of a firebird was pretty awesome.....but i don't think i would have it on my car......that is if i ever find the right one.

An exact replica of the 'smokey and the bandit' TA, which is what the 1977 model was, is parked round the corner from me. Even has the words 'smokey and the bandit' written on the dash inside the car.

And then round an opposite corner, we have a 1983 model TA in black!

I'm pretty lucky to live by such classic cars.

Actually, to me, that looks kinda spiffy. KITT looks better than i expected in that model of TA.

I actually like the TA's of the late 70's. I didn't at first (since grew up with KITT) but I like them now and wouldn't mind owning one of them someday. With the 6.6 Liter engine in them, they gotta be fun! I still lke 3rd Gen TA's better.

I too agree, I love Smokey and the Bandit and to have KITT in a a Bandit carr would be cool! I liked him in that '57 Chevy!

DJGM2002 did a great job with that picture. I was a little leery about seeing Kitt in one of the 2nd gens, but that looked great. I've always been a fan of any kind of Trans Ams, the 3rd gen was my favorite for obvious reasons.

The 57' Chevy was/is a very nice car for it's time, but it's just not Kitt. Ah well, it looked great anyway... at least until Kitt put it through the wringer.

Someone mentioned in an earlier post that since Karr went into production before the 1982 debut of the 3rd gen T/A, that he should have been incorported into a 2nd gen car. That would've been cool . Then he would have a little more aggressive exterior to match his personality. I would've gone for a Turbo Trans Am instead of the Bandit model myself, but since the Turbo T/As didn't come out till 1980, ya gotta work with what you got. Nice job on the 1977 Kitt , maybe it'll give some creative 2nd gen F-body fans some inspiration.

That movie inspired a lot of people. I liked it because it was a hilarious movie and the car. One guy in Winston Salem, NC had a car like that, and after watching the movie, decided to go on a three county high speed chase afterwards. My cousin also used to have one...God only knows where it's at or what it's been turned into.
