New years Knight... Bad idea?

The more I think about it, the more I think a new years episode of knight rider would be a bad idea. At least with the first batch of episodes we got from the writers. I say stick in on the dvd as a bonus or something.

With the current state of the economy I think their will be alot more people staying home this year. We could have big groups of people who are not usually home or sitting around watching tv. If one person has the idea to watch Knight rider he could turn everone else their off on the series in it's current form.

I am still relatively young at 32 and alot of the people I hang out with accept the fact that I am a knight rider nut. They also remember the original and I asked every single one of them to give the show a chance. When People first seen the pilot I had more then a few say It looked pretty cool. When I ask them now pretty much all of them say the new show is not that good, or not good enough to watch. Basically they say it sucks.

I still stand behind my saying.... A little knight rider is better then no knight rider.

I just hope the reboot kicks ass or else this show is done.

Hi Devon, normally I would tend to agree with you on the downed economy causing people to stay home on New Years Eve night. However, gas prices have not been this low in years. For 3 days in a row the I-10 freeway has been a parking of people trying to get outta town. And the casino I work at has very seen little change in the Christmas capacity of people.

Many may consider staying home but they may be patying more than watching tv.

I may be wrong though.

When I first heard that Knight Rider was returning on New Year's Eve, I thought, "What? Why then?" But there will be a lot of people staying in or at other house parties with televisions on (myself included), and the show airs early enough at 8 P.M. that a lot of viewers might not be tuning into New Year's-related television specials and therefore might actually watch the show.

We'll see, but due to the lack of advertising, returning on a 'holiday' and the long hiatus that would probably throw off and confuse any casual viewer, I would not expect the ratings to improve at all. Not to sound entirely pessimistic, but if anything I think the ratings might stay the same as they were before the hiatus.

Are saying that people should not be allowed to see Knight Rider until the reboot, that any episodes before that are ..well.. crap? How do you know how good an episode may be until you've seen it? And how do you know the same people who are turned off by a current episode would like an episode after the reboot?

I expect the rating for tonight's episode to be flat out terrible with much less than the 5M viewers that were there for the last three. But if NBC does what they should then they should recover next week and if NBC puts real effort into it, they might be able to attract somewhere around the number that was watching before the Obamamercial.

I think that the general conclusion of this series so far is that it could be better, or it's not as good as the original. Now that is not the full opinion of the knight rider community, but that is the conclusion of the general or casual tv viewer, as you could tell by the current state of the ratings for the show as well as laying out a reboot after the first few episodes. Even the people on the show are commenting about it. I was not overly impressed with this series. Sure each episode might have a ohhh moment or that was cool moment, or yea that's micheal knight moment but that's about it. Those few cool moments will not be enought to make a casual viewer tune in week after week..... Just my opinion of course but if you look at the facts it is what it is.

I think that this episode was the best one so far.

Considering there is absolutely nothing to watch but reruns during Christmas the airing of this new episode is like a breath of fresh air in a stale room!
