knight rider online

Wow, I just noticed there's a new Aoshima model kit out there with the season 3 nose and working scanner. Has anybody here gotten one yet? Considering this is the big Knight Rider site, I'm kinda surprised there aren't a lot more posts about it.

I was just wondering what people thought of it, and how good the scanner looked. Is it just blinky lights, or does it actually fade from side to side like it should?

I've seen many Aoshima K.A.R.R.'s on ebay recently but only a few K.I.T.T.'s I was planning on buying them but instead i think i might buy the 2 ERTL diecast K.I.T.T. & K.A.R.R. aswell as the diecast Shelby GT500KR

This has been covered over on Knightrideruk. I have yet to buy one, but have seen and touched it, the scanner is excellent, its just a shame everyone on eBay inflates the prices as I believe its a Japan only issue like the rest of the Aoshima models.

I have purchased one from hlj.com. Price was very reasonable all those months ago but I doubt you'll see the same deal with the current exchange rates. Its still in its packaging but I have had a look at some of the parts. The mould detailing is exceptional and far beyond the original ERTL release. The wheels for example are two piece, the matt chrome section and the bowling ball hubcaps are separate. The scanner is just amazing!

Anyway, that build has not even started as I'm painting a massive acrylic painting of the KI2T and KI3T.

I got mine KITT from BBTS on clearance. I'm not sure if KARR has a yellow scanner, one day I'll find out. I also have the hitari r/c KITT from firebox.com

For KARR and series 1 KITT, it looks like you have to buy the additional scanner units.

since you can buy the scanner separately and the engine of KITT is not really 'shown' on the 1/1 car i plan on ordering it separately. i then plan on putting it in the AMT KITT which is NOT a bad model for it's time and looks good once you remove the KNIGHT 2000 on the nose and stuff. plus the dashboard all the buttons are raised detail and look good when painted (aoshima KITT uses decals for the left and right side of the dash on both sides of the voice display). When i get my scanner I will show it off in the AMT KITT .

I have seen the scanner on my mates model, it is worth buy the scanner atleast. Use the original plastic KITT casting from the 80s not the 90s/00s re-release as that is not as accurate.

yeah the KITT i am doing is a 90s/00s re issue but it has the correct 82/83 issue body shell with the fender vents and missing side emblems and door molding. all i have to do is remove the KNIGHT 2000 from the nose and paint the body shell and body parts black .
