There's also the
VeohTV application (Windows/Mac) which has an NBC channel.
Chances are, the new Knight Rider TV pilot movie might show up on there,
soon after it's premiere broadcast on the NBC TV network.
Inevitably, the new KR is even more likely to show up on the more commonly
used P2P download networks too. Since that method isn't really a legal way
of viewing TV shows, the less said about it here, the better.
Either of those methods may be the only way that us KR fans in the UK get
the chance to see the new KR in full. If ITV get the rights to it, they'll cut
it to ribbons, pretty much like they did with the original KR series!
In my ITV region (Granada) even the pre-titles teaser was always cut out!

It'll be up within hours of the premiere. Probably even before it airs on the west coast.

It would be nice if NBCU would open up HULU.com for international viewing. They keep saying it's coming soon. Hopefully this happens before the 17th.

There are numerous "torrent" websites that allow illegal downloads of thousands
of TV shows, shortly after they've been shown legally on broadcast TV stations.
Although torrents are a legal method of distributing big amounts of data online,
internet pirates upload torrents to illegally distribute many TV shows without
the permission of the copyright holders. Attempts to post links to torrents
of the new KR TV movie would potentially get this forum into big trouble!
The only legal way of downloading TV shows, is either through a free service
such as the recently launched BBC iPlayer (available in the UK only) or by
purchasing episodes via not-free services such as the iTunes Store.

I meant you can watch the tv movie on NBC live when it airs via that site, I said nothing about downloading it
To clarify things up streamick.com is a online tv site not a torrent site

Most, if not all, legal TV download or streaming services, usually the ones offered
by the TV networks that broadcast the shows, usually add copyright protection
technology known as Digital Rights Management or DRM, and encode the shows
in proprietary commercial video codecs, such as Windows Media. These files
can then only be played on the PC they're downloaded onto. The DRM allows
the shows to expire and auto-delete after a set number of days. The two
main services in the UK for that are 4 On Demand and BBC iPlayer.
All the shows offered for download via torrents are mostly in XViD/DiVX format,
with the .avi file extension. These files are not encumbered with DRM which
allows them to expire, and can be played on any compatible PC or Mac.
The only show I download via torrent is Letterman, since it's not widely available
on UK television channels these days, except on a minor TV channel via digital
satellite and cable, up to three weeks later than it's original US broadcast!
(Letterman via torrent downloaded strictly for timeshifting purposes only!
Any other TV shows I download, come from 4 On Demand or BBC iPlayer.)
Up until about 14 months ago, I used to be able to watch Letterman on ITV4, and
previously on ITV2, both available via the free-to-air UK DTT service Freeview,
no more than one night after the shows original US broadcast.

The first link (streamick.com) works for me. I'm not sure about the legality of watching a streaming show (like on streamick). Fundamentally you are downloading information to your computer, but its not a permanent download. I guess this won't be an issue a few years down the road where all shows are available online, but for the moment we're in a grey area. How on earth are NBC expecting overseas viewers to watch this pilot? I suspect the UK and some European countries will get lucky a few months down the road but its not a certainty.
I can see this going the way of itunes but right now theres a BIG difference between what is available in the US store and the rest of the world.

Simply saying, "If anyone is curious about the other ways to view the backdoor pilot, PM me" would have been sufficient. If the less is said about it, the better, this thread seems to be going off into way too much unnecessary details that should have been left to PM.

Please do not turn this discussion into a Warez discussion. Torrenting may be illegal by the Government in your country - but by Universal's eyes, right now the airings are only legal in the United States. So even if it's broadcast on a site elsewhere international, they will think of it as piracy under their own laws.
If you post any links to torrents or places to download in public discussion. The post will be deleted and you will be warned. Please don't ask where to find them or asking for PMs to get them. Don't have any open direct requests for them (use PMs to people that might help)
It's illegal in the country this site exists to redistribute TV shows without permission. And by discussing them in a public forum, you can put this site at risk. That something we need to avoid.
Thanks for understanding!

Well, i didn't know that it was illegal to download it in Australia.
Seriously.
20 years ago it was illegal to even tape a TV show to video tape in Aus. But, like blank CDs and DVDs, the industry still exists because of an unspoken fair use policy. Distribute and/or sell and you will run into trouble. It makes sense - even the lamest TV show exists so that the stations can make money selling advertising for that time slot, and the big releases (like this I suppose) can earn the stations a lot of $$, hopefully a lot more than what they paid to purchase the screening rights to start with...

We're getting off topic here, but...
More to the point, it is illegal ANYWHERE -- well, anywhere which has signed on to the Berne Convention on copyright, which is all G7 western nations, as well as Australia, and most 3rd world countries too -- to UPLOAD the tv show without proper authorization. That TV show is intellectual property which someone worked hard to create (including people who work hard, sweaty, dirty jobs for US$10/hr). It belongs to them. If you want to use their property, you need their permission, and generally they charge for said permission.
http://www.law.cornell.edu/treaties/berne/overview.html
Australia is a signatory to the Berne Convention:
http://www.copyrightaid.co.uk/copyright ... ignatories
Even with TV which is broadcast for free TO THE CONSUMER, it is still paid; it is the advertiser which is paying.
It is legal, of course, to record a broadcast off the air, but that doesn't make it legal for you to give copies to others without permission from the owner of the intellectual property.
In a free country, where individuals have the right to keep the products they create, capitalism is a natural consequence. People have a right to charge others to use their property.
This has been one of the foundations of western civilization for thousands of years.
You can use communism, such as in North Korea, Cuba, and China, and have the government own and control everything, so no one has to pay, but that is denying people one of their fundamental rights.
The government has no right to tell someone they can't control what they have created.

I really dont care about legality.
A bunch of pollies could one day decide it is illegal to look at hot girls in bikinis..would that stop you doing it?
i WILL download this show and if it is awesome, then i WILL buy the dvd.
If i hadnt of downloaded the show then there would be NO chance i would but it......

Well, looking at someone does not infringe on their rights. Stealing their property does.

I thought this topic was going to be locked.
Stealing =/= Copyright Infringement

You know, if Michael Knight had taken that kind of black and white attitude to the letter of the law, Knight Rider would have been a pretty dull show!
Just a thought!
(For what it's worth, it always annoyed me that he never wore a seatbelt. "Passive Laser Restraint System" my arse!)
By the way Phil, where did you take that picture you use for your avatar? Pretty impressive shot!

I agree yes that the law isn't as black and white as that, but in the case of illegally downloading someone else's copyrighted property it is, and I don't understand how people can justify it. We've all seen the ads at the start of DVD's. "You would'nt steal someone's handbag, so why o you steal movies", that one.
The avatar is a still from the Transformers movie

Got it from IMDB... I think lol.
