Actress Sydney Poitier (Grindhouse's "Death Proof," "Veronica Mars") has landed a role on NBC's two-hour movie "Knight Rider," which will serve as a pilot for a possible remake of the TV series about a man and his talking car.

The Transformers-inspired sequel centers on Mike Tracer (Justin Bruening), the son of Michael Knight, the character played by David Hasselhoff in the original production.

Poitier will play a feisty FBI agent who dislikes Mike.

I have found one strange thing, that Sydney's (full name: Sydney Tamiia Poitier) father is Sidney Poitier (Yes, the doughter's and father's name is almost the same) and he's married to Joanna Shimkus (she is Sydney's mother), when i saw the last name Shimkus, i thought: "isn't it Lithuanian last name?". I searched the google for more information about Joanna Shimkus and found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joanna_Shimkus and there says, that she has Lithuanian blood. Shimkus in Lithuanian would be written Šimkus (male last name), in Lithuania her's last name would be written Šimkienė (married's female last name, if the female isn't married, the last name would be written Šimkaitė or Šimkytė). If you look to my profile, you'll find, that i'm Lithuanian too. I proud, that Knight Rider has connection with my country - Lithuania.

Sorry for mistakes.

Oh, why couldn't she be the beautiful mechanic instead?!!

Radicalas: Hopefully Sydney will become a big star and she'll come visit Lithuania for a family reunion and make an appearance for you!

Sorry, I should have been clearer.

Two more interesting tidbits: It looks like the other female lead will be Deanna Russo, another former soap star.

Also, the producers had lunch with the Hoff yesterday. Don't know what the outcome of that will be.

I haven't heard anything definite about William Daniels. It's not a decision they have to make right away; the voice would be added in post production.

I think it will be their mistake if they don't go for William Daniels (but I think everyone will agree with that).

I would be more curious to know if he will be able to do the TV movie and the big screen movie or if one will have him to sign something that will keep him from working with the other project.

Tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind seeing Mr. Daniels have an KR 2010 type roll as a hologram.

As I said in another thread I'am sure William Daniels agent is very busy these days. Entertaining offers from the two warring factions.

Keep in mind William Daniels is still the president of SAG and in his 80s, reprising the voice of KITT may be too much for him to handle these days. Hopefully not but it is a factor fans should consider if the voice of KITT is replaced by someone else in either series.

I really hope that Mr. Daniels can do the voice work.
-As for the casting or both Sydney Poitier and Deanna Russo, it looks like this won't be lacking attractive ladies! 8)

I don't think William Daniels is finished yet. Some one made a thread about him being over in Europe? Somewhere at some type of convention? There was even pictures posted showing him sitting at a table with a poster of kitt behind him saying meet the voice of kitt.
