So is this going to come out on blu ray at all? I just got mine on DVD and am wondering if i should just return it and wait for a blu ray version

I got mine at Target yesterday... there were only 2 left, so I was lucky. All the Wal-Marts around here aren't carrying it, so I grabbed Fast and Furious along with DragonBall Evolution and headed to Target. I knew they'd have it as they had it on display about a week before it came out as one of the new TV releases.

It's because GST was embarrassed of the project (mainly the reboot) and didn't want his name associated with the said failed series.

He wants people to remember his name with Las Vegas not Knight Rider.

Another interesting tid bit is that Ford brought Knight Rider back to series after the pilot, NOT NBC, the Hoff or David Bartis. (Go figure right?) NBC didn't want to do anything past the pilot TV Movie. But Ford blackballed them.
I have a lot of other info shaking around in my head, but I just took a "aspirin" so that's all I can recall.

I don't know about GST not wanting to be mentioned on the DVD, but I don't think FORD was the 'driving force' behind the decision to go to series. Probably shouldn't state such things as fact unless you can back them up.

Wish there were more series extras! Thought the gag real, which I was really looking forward to really wasn't anything spectacular, kind of a well here you go, no thought into it. Is nice to own the episodes though, fun catching up on little things I missed the first time through.

From what I've heard, GST's lack of involvement on the box set was not his fault. NBC didn't need his involvement to include all the content produced from NBC.com. If you want to be annoyed at the box set quality - it's not correct to direct it at him.

As for the Ford thing, I thought that was pretty much the assumption at this point? That their sponsorship = money to produce the series.

No I mean much more than sponsorship Neil. Apparently NBC didn't want to make the tv movie a series because of the mixed reaction. (ratings were high enough but it was critically bashed in the media and blogs.)
Ford's Mustang sales however sky-rocked after the pilot in February. The numbers didn't lie, so they went back to NBC and threatened to pull not just some but ALL of there advertising from NBC unless they went ahead & made it a series. Ford blackballed them into doing the series.

I was the first one to hate on Ford when the pilot was announced, I had no idea that they pushed for our beloved series to be filmed while most of us were freaking out that they were using a Mustang for KITT.

Ford = win
NBC = bucket o fail

Well, I'm happy to report that after a cursory inspection of the DVDS, that the music is indeed intact, and the sound quality is actually a little better.

Keep in mind, the original series was a joke to the critics when it first came out.

You can spin the blogs anyway you like, but the DATA from the ratings of the 2-hour movie show that viewership INCREASED during the broadcast. That's a very strong indication that not only did a lot of people tune in, but they stayed with it and enjoyed it. So NBC had a 2-hour pilot which did great in the ratings AND the audience really liked it. Doesn't take a lot of blackballing to decide to go to series.

NBC really promoted the series over the summer, and for the Fall 2008 season, Knight Rider had the highest ratio of intent-to-view/awareness of ANY new show. That means people knew about the show, and were planning on watching it. It should have been huge.

But then NBC screwed it up and premiered it against the blockbuster Dancing With the Stars and all those people who were planning to watch, didn't.

If there is some insider scoop that we don't know about, by all means let us know. But it seems to me that NBC would have been crazy NOT to go to series.

I was told this info several months ago by a member of the production crew on the pilot AND the series. I trust the info and the person. It surprised me as well.

It is just looped.

How do I get to the gag reel?I see all the other features that the box listed on disc 1 except the gag reel.

Please tell me these are single sided discs and not double sided like the first gen copies of the original series?

I just got through watching the pilot 2 hour movie with commentary of Justin and Deanna.When The Justin asks the Hoff,"Will I ever see you again?" I feel like answering his place,"Sorry,but I can't.You killed my show before I could get back on it!"

Still waiting for someone to point me to the gag reel on these dvd's.How do I get to it?I checked disc 1 and nothing marked gag reel or bloopers on the first disc.The other dvd's don't show any bloopers on the descriptions on the box.
