I just pray that the new movie doesn't end up as rediculous and cheesey as the PC games. When all else fails; re-tell the story. It worked for the X-men movies. I don't even care that they changed ages of characters or had characters who never crossed paths in the original interacting with each other it was still a well-done theatrical adaptation with good actors and a fresh look.

Lot's of kids who never even watched the cartoons or read the comics went to see both movies and really liked them. That's what I'd like for KR, for people who never heard of it to go see the movie and come back thinking "wow, that kicked ass!"

KR needs a fresh new look (that's the point of re-makes right, to make old things new?) while still keeping key points that made us enjoy the show. I don't really wanna see old KITT be used, but I don't wanna see him as a Lotus or a Countach either. Btw, one would think there'd be more 4th gen's lying around in junkyards than there would be 3rd gens, at this point they're scarce.



Once something gets to be 20 or more years old it becomes antique so actually those 3rd gens would be more rare and probably cost alot more to get ahold of. Where are they gunna get enough 3rd gen Trans Am's that they can crash in the stunts? The original show went through tons of cars per episode. They'll probably have to use CGI instead to save money.

I'm not saying that I'd like it (unless I really couldn't tell), but finding one 3rd gen Trans Am and doing the stunts with computers would be cheaper than breaking 20 'antique' cars for one jump. Speaking of expensive I wonder where they got the Charger's for the Dukes movie and if those stunts will be real or CGI. Anyone know how much a restored '69 Charger cost nowadays?

KR2000 made my head hurt.

Follow the line of reasoning:

1.) Dan Quayle is president in 2000. Therefore, Clinton never got in and the Republicans have been in power for a while.

2.) Handguns have been banned.

Anyone else see the problem? Republicans as a rule aren't into gun control. Granted Danny boy wasn't the sharpest bayonet in the infantry, but still.

Anywho, as for the new movie, why not just say Devon was killed by some crooks; be vague, so we can pretend Shawn the ice princess and the red tomato never happened.

One crucial element that made the show appealing was the fact that all the stunts were REAL.

If they CGI it all, it will lose some of it's appeal, at least to me.

Sure, it will be expensive but it will be a landmark and a bit of bravery to spend some money to make things actually real and not fake, just like in the original show.

So please, no CGI.

KITT is a computer him/itself...I don't want the whole car look like one.

I'd rather opt for a long wait for D. Hasselhoff to get a really good movie released than for him to hurry up and produce a hatchet job version that won't please anyone who's a fan of "Knight Rider"!
Uh, did anyone else besides me think that D.Hasselhoff's last name was a made-up one before realizing that it's his last name? Just asking....

In the beginning, there was one man. He built his empire, and then fell. He used his empire to ensure his dream of making the world just would never faulter. In his wake, he left one sole heir to rule over his empire. He left one guardian of technology for his heir's safety. And, he left his heir these words; 'One man can make a difference.'

(All the while, the camera is panning out from pure blackness with the words scrolling over to slowly reveal Michael Knight 'classic' behind the wheel of KITT...and then KITT's classic car hood and scanner...and it keeps panning out. As the classic theme (somewhat modified to last longer and merged into a slightly harder rock beat) fills the audio tracks, the camera shot stops after getting the whole front of K.I.T.T. into view (background totally dark) and then everything jumps into hyperspeed as KITT lurches at the camera, virtually smashing into the lense via the windshield (without doing any damage) and blasts through the shot. The camera reacts and turns just quick enough to clearly get a shot of the place...and pursues; zooming in upon the words 'California KNIGHT' in classic plate appearance. Rider in cursive cuts it's way in via laser effects. Meanwhile, there are all these watermark-faded scenes from the show just barely hinting amidst the darkness before the plate does that flip deal to a modern day version, still saying KNIGHT and speeds away from the camera's pursuing view point, opening up a new backdrop of a modern day L.A. freeway chase. The music beat's still going as the camera takes it all in. Several police cruisers are in pursuit of a high speed, racing car, slalooming through the thick traffic.

KITT: "You really need to slow down and let the local Police do their jobs. Innocent lives are at risk as long as we continue to pursue in such a reckless mannorism. And, we do not have authority in cases where the Police are concerned."

The camera takes notice and zooms in on KITT's pilot. Some 20-something guy who's acting like he knows what he's doing. "Plot me a safe course right up to his bumper, KITT. I don't care if it became Police official, just because he ran a red light."

KITT: "If you recall...so...did...we."

The kid revs up the powerful engine and gains ground with KITT's superior road traction and navigational abilities.

Unnamed Guy: "Calculate the proper Turbo Boost jump angle. I want to take this guy by surprise and disable his..."

Before he could even complete his sentence, this horrid sound of twisting metal rings through the air as the house lights come up, ruining the powerful visual effects of the training environment. A digital readout encases the wreckage of the collided, citizen mini-van and data lists the number of wrecks and fatalaties/injured. An older Michael Knight walks between the projection walls that looks a lot more like cars on a freeway a second ago, clapping his hands. "Congratulations. You just took one of the most expensive, non-military pieces of hardware ever invented and wrinkled a nylon movie screen...while breaking a few laws and putting the public at risk. I'm sure our finest in blue would have a few things to say to you."

KITT: "Not to mention shaving a few hours off of my remaining CPU lifetime, Michael..."

Just a possible, visual start to how the movie could go. It explains in very brief where the movie is coming from and how it can move on. After all, in the pilot show, Wilton Knight built this wonderful Foundation and all that...yet, how wasn't very important. Same with Michael Knight. He has a wonderful history to explore. But, doing so isn't needed very much for the movie. Want that? Go buy the DVD sets.

Hey Blazefox, I agree with your last post except about the rarety of the trans am and them not being able to use them. The Dodge charger was really scarse for thr dukes film, they used 20 and I read in hot rod that this one guy sold the studio his 2 cars for 2 bucks cause he loved the show so much and the studio gave back his two cars for $1.25 each. So there have to be at least 20 kitts still out there. You see them all the time on ebay. They said the Vector wheels were the hardest to find, not the cars. So Kitt could come back and have 17 trash/stunt cars and 3 awesome cars for the movie.

How certain is it that the movies EVENTUALLY going to be released anyway? Its never been affirmative, has it? All ive heard are sketchy rumors, and honestly worrying/thinking/debating over rumors that probably aren't true or at the very least are sketchy is never all that fun....

If we had an affirmative answer that the movie is going to be made someday until then its not really worth worry over i dont think....BUT, much like the rest of yall, i'm anxious enough as it is in finding out.

that's true but how long is it going to take before we can get more news on wheather or not there's going to be a KR movie? is the script even writen? is there a director for this film yet? star actors? Is Universal going to be involved? is KITT going to talk? We can start with these questions and we might get some answers but we still have to remember that this film (from what I've heard) is still in the talks.

KITT will definitely talk. Glen Larson and David Hasselhoff said this much (well, David in interviews and I think Glen told someone from here one time, not sure...?)

I know they would NEVER do a show without KITT talking, and I'm sure/hoping that William Daniels will obviously do the voice.

Skav, about confusion caused by ignoring KR2000. KR2000 was a little-known, badly done TV movie, I think they could ignore with great ease. ONly real Knight Rider fans would even know the difference.

Yes, you are right but I was also stating a general point about franchises ignoring past entries and certain plot points rather than explain them out, I personally find it cheating to ignore things as if they never happened.

They wouldn't have to ignore KR2000 anyway, I know it was a world filled with different technology but they could explain that the world that was in KR2000 became more violent prone again and touch it up with a bit of normality of the world we live in today.

But more than likely, that movie WILL be ignored in any case.

I thought abotu that a lot and I'm not really worried. They said for the Dukes of Hazzard movie, as bad as the rest of it will be, all the stunts were done with real cars, not CGI, so they more than likely will do the same for Knight Rider. (I will like to see KITT's monitors move beyond Atari graphics and sounds though, that'll be cool)
