Well if it was simply converting a mp3 to a midi file, I would be all game. but you need to have the notes for the different instruments, or at least be able to hear it with you ear.
I do love how in quicktime if you play a midi, and then pause it, the music kinda still goes for a bit like a real instrument would, cause it's all being synthed on the fly.

Nick, you sure the MP4 thing isn't for Sony Ericsson's only? (I could be wrong though)
And Neil you're right. I tried the same trick with Nokia's software that comes on the disc, but you always get instruments out of synch etc.
If anyone has experience with making SP-MIDI ringtones, please reply.

The Nokia 7650 and the SonyEricsson P800 that he mentioned both share similar OS based on the Symbian operating system. It is this operating systems ability to handle multimedia applications and be an actual OS that you can easily develop for that allows it to play mp4 files. Lesser phones have to stick with Midi.

You've got the whole video on your phone? How's it store that?

The P800 use the smaller version of a Sony Memory Stick, (i believe they call it a duo) with sizes over 128MB on a Stick. So you can just put the video on there.

Hi guys, after having read your comments on the mp4 after my initial reply, here we go, and i hope this helps.
1. goto
http://www.knightrider.biz and download the video file to your desktop.
2. goto www. downloads.com and in the search bar type in MP4 and search.
you will see a program called mpegable s4 click on the free download button and save this to file.
Now you have both the video and the s4 software. open the software and click on input file, search for the video where ever you stored it.
click on the red record button by the tool bar at the top of screen. this will now convert the file into a mp4, that should help you to use this.
however if this does not work, find out what format your phone plays videos in and change to that.
Nokia's also play real1 so if you like download the software from the above site to convert the file to real1. and save this to your phone.
If you just want the ring tone, change it to mp3 which most phone support these days.
hope this helps you all in finding the video in the first place, and hope it helps you all in converting it to the various formats you need, any more help give me a mail, and i will get back to you.
I have the complete video playing on my p800 and my friends 7650 with no problems at all.

neps sorry mate, but the file once converted to mp4 or real1 will only take up about 10mb so quiet a lot of phones can handle it these days, the p800 comes with 10mb built in and the due stick which is only 16mb, yes they do up to 128, however they are like golddust. I only have the 16mb i also converted it so it now only 5.16mb,
hope this helps

Ok. download the real 1 converter from downloads.com and the convert it into real 1 instead, you have a couple of options on how you get this on your phone
1. infrared if your pc has it
2. bluetooth if your pc has it
3. this is proberbly the option you will need to use, you will need to purchase a data cable, and use that
or buy a blue tooth adapter £20 off Dabs.com, this will enable you to download anything to your phone.
hope this helps

I would get the bluetooth adapter for your pc from
http://www.dabs.com if i were you, despite being half the price, it has the advantage that it will still be able to use it if you change your phone.

Bluetooth is definetly the way to go. Not only is it wireless and easy to use, it also is an emerging technology that allows you to transfer data to Palm Pilots, use wireless Keyboards and Mice, even print wirelessly to your printer. It's to USB what 802.11b is to Networking.

This tone sounds a bit odd with my sb live! but nice when you listen it with Nokia 3510(i). Use Wap Browser and enter the address I gave and it starts to download it. These tones are normally chargeable but the webmasters are bunch of noobs and the folder seems to be open to public.
Take a look at this page with your web browser:
