Back in October, Apple released a version of iTunes that allowed you to download TV shows for $1.99. This was the first service to publicly offer episodes legally that you could pay to download At the time it was limited to just Desperate Housewives, Lost and a show they just canceled. However that has all just changed.

Today, Apple announced a new partnership with NBC Universal. Not only can you download this weeks Law & Order, The Office or Tonight Show - but they are also offering Vintage TV Shows. One of the very first being Knight Rider. (Dragnet, Adam 12 and Hitchcock Presents being the other vintage offerings)

The complete first season is now available for $1.99 each or $35.99 for the whole season. It is a digital rights managed device which allows you to play on five machines at one time. It is also compatible with the new video iPod.

We just downloaded Trust Doesn't Rust, and here are our quick observations. Image size is on par with other iTunes releases 320x240 resolution. (that's half broadcast). File size for the 48 minute episode is 223.6MB, so a bit of a haul for those with dialup. It also includes the teaser preview before each episode.

Knight Rider Season 1

For those of you already with Season 1 on DVD, you may question why this is necessary. Well if you already have that copy, then it's true that you probably don't need this, even though it's not a disc that will scratch, and with an iPod you can have the entire season in your hand. But for those looking for a method to download Knight Rider, without worrying about the feds, this is a great and we are excited that it is finally available! Maybe well see Season 4 here before DVD, wont that be something.
