Variety reported today that it has tapped Doug Liman to produce a two hour reworking of Knight Rider. Set to air this season, with hopes to turn it into a series this fall. Dave Andron (Raines) is writing the script and will be a producer along with Liman and Dave Bartis.
NBCUniversal has had success in the past with relaunching Battlestar Galactica (also created by series creator Glen Larson) and is currently relaunching Bionic Woman on Wednesday Nights. Liman is famous for movies such as Swingers (which launched John Favaro & Vince Vaughns careers), GO (a personal fav) and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. His biggest accomplishment is probably the Bourne Identity films that forced movies to rely more on practical action effect sequences and less on over indulgent special effects.
