I think they will *eventually* be like Kitt. They already have cars that can park themselvs ect....Some day there will be a "real" Kitt

Many months ago, PBS ran an hour long special on vehicles that can drive themselves. Military-intended vehicles that go off-road in a challenge race. Every vehicle had a different method of meeting the challenge. And, a fair number of them made it to the finish line without in-race assistance. The course environment was very harsh and included narrow off-roading over moutain passes. Near the end, the race (despite giving each vehicle a wide birth of starting) had an exciting and unexpected passing maneuver in it. (See, the leader was suffering from some major malfuctions somewhere past the half way point and drove very slowly. So, the one behind it decided that slowing down wasn't as impressive as going around. Hummm...something like what KITT did in the pilot episode.) Nobody expected this to happen. Seems nobody told the artificial mind that this race was all about endurance and accomplishment over finishing position.
To answer the question, yes, I do believe that we'll eventually be seeing some of the more urban practical aspects of KITT in real vehicles. But, I highly doubt any of them will be passing other cars by turbo jumping or able to ram through solid walls.

Was that DARPA race? They are doing another in November this time with city driving conditions.
I didn't know about the one vehicle passing the other. Yeah, like KITT - they like to show off sometimes.

GPS and also video and I think radar sensors, not sure on the last one. And of course, the latest AI technology the univercities were able to come up with.

If we ever do get KITTs, I want to be a freelance vigilante with a rejected model, kinda like adopting KARR. Like it was bitter to everyone out of distrust but he was always 'different' around me.

I think SOMEDAY we'll have the capabilities to make a KITT-like car. I think the better question is whether, by that point, we're still using cars. (Obviously the self-driving car should definitely come within that time-frame, but I'm talking that level of artificial intelligence)

first of all cloud i love ur sig
now on topic i doubt we will ever have a car that we can have a conversation with but i do belive we will get stronger cars as far as durability like kitt but i doubt it would be like the MBS also i doubt they will ever have the same features as kitt but i do belive they will be highly intellegent and maybe drive themselves without assistence maybe sports cars will be able to
off-topic: will we ever get k3000 smilys?

Yep, I think so. If you remember there is a lot of things that KITT had in the 80s, that some of the concept cars and cars now are getting. Minus turbo boost, grappling hook, etc...lol When I was at the KC Auto Show a few months back they had a car called the Ford VERVE and it didn't have a regular top. It had a glass that ran from the windshield to the truck. And it was able to transistion. Going from light to dark. Like transistion lenses on glasses. And to me that was a KITT feature, because KITT was able to darken his windows so nobody could look in. In Goliath he did that to protect Rita. So, yeah I think before too long in the future we might be able to buy KITT for ourselves.
