Stupid question, but that is in regards to no sound effects on certian episodes right?

Link dont work

Also I ask, is this for the missing sound effects on certain episodes?

Also how would a UK resident go about this? I hope I dont have to send the old discs back all the way to america, actually would I even be qualified for the replacement discs being outside America

This is the official statement I received:
"We used the best available master we had at the time and we were not initially aware of the error. The second it was brought to our attention, we took immediate steps to correct it." - Universal Studios Home Entertainment Spokesperson
When asked about turn around time they said it would be fast..?

It's too late to contact that number tonight, I will tomorrow. Everyone should probably post their findings here when they send out contact.

"Best available master" hmmm.

Anyway, I hope for some word soon on how UK/EU residents go about this.

How would people know whether they get a faulty copy or a corrected one.

I'm impressed that no one got a generic E-mail. It'll be interesting to see what Universal does to correct this. I think they should do exactly what they did for the incorrect framing on the Back To the Future - The Complete Trilogy set, where they offered fans the chance to mail back their faulty copies.

It would cost a bomb to send it back to Universal America from the UK, unless I am able to send them back to Universal UK/EU.

I see no reason why we can't just keep the faulty discs as they'd just destroy them anyway.

One company here in the UK released a TV series where Disc 3's content was the same as Disc 1, gave them a call and they sent out a whole NEW replacement copy and didn't even ask for the old discs/copy back, thats a small company comapred to universal and I think Universal should do just that.

I've emailed the etailer where i got my copy from and see what that can do.

got my season 3 from Amazon.com
I can't see any e mail adress to ask about a replacement.

The only thing I seem to be able to do is Go through the returns policy which evolves posting the set back to them.

I don't want to do that before I ask if they can help me or not.

Anyone got any ideas on this??

What if I don't want to give up the disks not knowing when I'd recieve the new set? Sure I saw them all. I got mine via Amazon.com (and the Disc 1 corner of the plastic case was broken when it arrived.)

I would rather fax them my reciept from Amazon.com for a replacement than go sending out the disks. I don't live near a post office I can get to, to weigh and send a boxed DVD set, either.

Also will they be charging shipping for the DVD set? And if so, how much?

I'd email them and ask what they can do, it wont hurt to do it, they can't make you send the copy back unless there offering the replacement for sure or something.

I think I've mentioned it in a post of mine earlier, I've emailed Loaded247 which is where i got mine from and see what they say but I'm guessing i'd have to send it back to them, which will be a pain and cost me money.

I'll just keep the ones I have now ,someday they'll be worth something anyways and I'll just a correct set!....there are somepoeple that might pay thru the nose to get the "defective" disc!

and as far as the best master goes???...I start to wonder if they used someone off of ebay?

Which episodes had the missing effects (or other defects)?

I think virtually all episodes are missing atleast 1 sound effect but "Lost Knight" and "Knight of the Chameleon" are the most effected.

K.I.T.T vs K.A.R.R is the only episodes that appears to be totally correct both music and soundeffect wise.

I called them this morning, but wasn't at home when they called back. Apparently, i have to talk to them in person, because all they left me for a message was the same message on their recording. So, i sent them an email, and I hope to hear back from them tomorrow.I'd give you all the Email addy, but I'm not 100 percent sure of it myself. Your best bet is to call them.

Well, realistically, Universal is a business that's out to make a buck. In order to be mailed "corrected" sets, I'm sure at the very least a proof of purchase (like a receipt) would need to be provided. My point of view is why should I give Universal twice the amount of money for a set that they screwed up? They've already been on my bad side ever since they butchered Quantum Leap, so I may just wait to see what they end up doing before I ever get the Season 3 set at all.

It's interesting that a smaller company would be willing to mail replacement sets without even doing so much as asking for a proof of purchase. But it seems that the more money a company has, the more cheap they are. I think the Back To the Future - The Complete Trilogy scenario is the most likely to occur here. That is, if anything is done about it at all...

I went through the returns procedure at Amazon.com

Today I have got good news"Thanks for contacting us at Amazon.com.

I am sorry for the problem you experienced with your shipment.

I have requested a refund for the item and associated shipping cost.
As the cost of return shipping is prohibitively expensive in this
case, you do not need to return the original item.

I've also placed a new order for the item to be shipped to you as
soon as possible. The charge for this order is $47.94. Both the
charge and refund will be applied to the credit card used on the
original order."

great I get to keep the original set and get it replaced.

I just hope they understand the problem with the first set I sis explain it to them.

I don't want 2 sets that have sound effects missing.

I think they have been realy good seeing as it's not their fault.

Nice to see your having good news, mine is not bad but not great, all my company said is to send it back and they'll inspect it or soemthing and ship another copy out to me.

But I have mailed back having read your post trying to get them to just send out another copy if they can confirm from Universal that it is a corrected copy.

Out of intrset has anyone got a replacment set yet?
Have they corrected all the mistakes?

I'm sure there are boatloads of the set with messed up SFX, so if you get a replacement from Amazon, chances are it's going to be screwed up as well... But I guess you'll then have 2 sets and if you send them into Universal, you'll get the replacements and have 2 good sets...

The cost of shipping for just the discs only cannot be that expensive from any country, it would be a little more than mailing a letter, since you wouldn't have to use much protection for discs that are just going to be destroyed anyway...

As Lost Knight said, they are not going to send you new discs for nothing or everyone would be requesting them without originally purchasing them, so there has got to be some verification process, I can't imagine any company not verifying the original purchase in some way...

Also, I can't imagine the most diehard collector would ever be interested in these botched transfers, I mean would you watch them and say, Hey, look at what Universal did, ha ha? I mean anybody can tell there's a problem when there's a car tearing ass on screen and absolutely no sound coming from it!

Just got off the phone with them. They haven't gotten the information yet about how to proceed with the replacement discs, so they really don't have any answers just yet. I left my name and phone number and they will give us a call when they find out the procedure.

They hope to have more info today.

Collectors love rare items. Issues of books showing a mistake that was later rectified can be very expensive
