The un-official Knight Rider pumpkin

Well, Halloween time is upon us again (Yesss!!!), and with the season comes all the fun things associated with Halloween, like pumpkin carving. And since I like carving pumpkins every year, I had a great idea...why not carve a pumpkin of my favorite TV show. Henceforth, I have created "The un-official Knight Rider Pumpkin".

And here it is...

Image

The pumpkin comes with a "shadow", which is an image carved on the back of the pumpkin, allowing the image to shine onto a wall (in my case, the refrigerator). Unfortunately, the shadow didn't turn out as good as I'd like, but here it is...

Image

And here's what the back of the pumpkin looks like (where the "shadow" shines through)...

What do you think?

Wow. That's really cool!

I love the Voice Box! Great idea  Does it look as authentic in real life as it does in the picture?

Yes I agree, that's some talent there! I'd like that displayed in our living room during Halloween night, pretty cool! :)

Yeah, a very spooky looking Michael! And the voicebox is great

Very cool idea. I like the Michael one -- it's amazingly detailed for a pumpkin carving. 8) But it looks a little like Superman to me.

Actually, it does. I just wish the voicebox turned out better for the shadow. I've seen some if the shadows for the pumpkins, and the effect is really neat.

PS: Took me awhile to find Michael on the first picture.

Wow! What a great carving! I wish I could do that but I'm lucky I can do the traditional faces!

Fantastic! I loved how the shadow turned out on the fridge. If you look carefully, you'll see the orange and then a large distorted white version of it as well. If recreated in a paint program, it could be a really neat wallpaper!

Uh, did you have pumpkin-carving lessons before you did those carvings? If so, what a great job!  8) :)

I was inspired by that shadow picture that I made a wallpaper based on that:

http://fuzziedice.com/knightrider/wallpaper/index.html

I didn't use any of the actual picture. I did this from scratch, using shapes, blurs, effects, etc. The faint red background pattern is a colorized photo of the innerds of my computer, "Megatron". ;)

I also have avatars of the wallpaper here:

http://fuzziedice.com/knightrider/avatars.html

(Scroll to the bottom of the avatars to see them)

Wallpapers are in several sizes to fit several desktops, and are in JPG format. The largest is almost 500K in size.

Avatars come in 80x80 and 50x50 and are no more than 4.5K at most, if that, in size, which should work with most forums.

NOTE on avatars: Hotlink protection is installed so you will need to download these to your own hard drive, then upload them to your own server or the forum of your choice to use them. Otherwise they won't show up.

Enjoy! :) And let me know what you think!

Lyn...I didn't take any classes on pumpkin carving. I used the Pumpkin Masters tools & techniques to make the pumpkin. Here's the link...

http://www.pumpkinmasters.com/carving.asp

and for lighting the pumpkin...

http://www.pumpkinmasters.com/illumination.asp

FuzzieDice...Thanks!!! I'm honored to give you inspiration for your wallpaper. BTW, your other wallpapers and avatars are great!! If you want to use any pics, just e-mail me and I'll send them to you.

TurbomanKnight...the best way I know to find Michael in the pumpkin is to look at the eyes. He's actually supposed to smile, but I didn't carve enough out for his mouth. The picture I used had a small smile, and I just transferred it on the pumpkin.

I'm tossing around the idea of carving another one, but using Garthe Knight this time. I'm also thinking about sending the pics to Pumpkin Masters and see if they'll post it on their site.

I bet you anything "Norman" from episode "Halloween Knight" has special carving abilities, especially the way we see him carving a pumpkin with that machete of a knife.

Thanks. :) Hope the KITT Inside wallpaper is also something folks would like. :) I set it as my current desktop wallpaper, in fact.

I also just now reuploaded the page to include a credit to you for inspiration and a link to this topic. :)

I stink at carving pumpkins. I never do that so I just take a marker and draw something lame on it, and consider it a decoration of sorts.

Alllll Riiiight!!!!!
I had a BIG problem logging in for the past several months, but now...

I'm back!!! Yesss!!!

Anyway, I wanted to show everyone some of the new Knight Rider pumpkin patterns I made this past Halloween. I made a bunch of patterns, but I was only able to carve a few of them out. Why am I posting this now? Good question, and I'll get to that in a little bit. For now, on to the 2006 patterns!

This first one may not look good at all, but it's a screen shot of the Fourth Season Opening Theme. You might be able to see KITT's SPM foils extended. The dark area to the left is supposed to be the dust that KITT kicked up.

Image

I did have one of KARR, but I can't find the picture now. It's all right, though, because the pattern didn't work at all. KARR isn't the only bad guy I carved, though. How about this handsome bad guy?

Image

Now to the question of why I'm showing this now instead of Halloween? Easy. With Memorial Day right around the corner and July 4th not too far away, a pumpkin carving can also be used on watermelons. And I can't wait to try some of my carvings on some watermelons. Here's how to carve a watermelon.

I'll let everybody know how my Knight Rider carving progress is coming along.

I finally started this year's pumpkin carving season with a pattern I made of April Curtis. Unfortunately, I made some mistakes with my carving. Part of her nose is missing and her eyes are crooked.

Image

I've got plenty more Knight Rider patterns to carve out, so be prepared for more updates.

Even with a couple minor mistakes, it's still better than anything I could ever carve. ;)

Just waiting on Tuesday. After then it's time to get started on more KR carvings. I feel like I've been holding back on the patterns I've made already. Not this year!!! I'm planning on carving all the other KR patterns I've made. And once I get this scanner plugged into my computer I'll be able to share all my patterns.

Please keep us posted. We have a carving contest every year at the local car audio shop. Would love to have my friend win with a KR pattern :).
