Hi all, just seen this on Blackstar Knight Rider - The Best Of Knight Rider

http://www.blackstar.co.uk/video/item/7000000084423

Looks promising, I just hope it isn’t some episodes from the first 3 DVD's repackaged like the new Video box set.

Hey, welcome to the board!

Someone actually just posted about this in another thread, although their subject title is a bit non descript so it makes it hard to see it. (thats why proper subjects like this one help people. :))

We really don't know anything more about it at the momment, but do hope its new episodes, rather than a repackaging of the old released ones.

I hate to say this, but smileys don't dismiss the smart mouthing attitude. It may be a joke to you, but to quite a few it looks like you are smartmouthing Neil, and trying to wipe it with smileys.

It's the internet, not too many people truly know your real intentions, and read you only by your words.

Just try to keep that in mind in the future.

Anybody taking the leap of faith and pre-ordering before they actually post what episodes are on the DVD? I'm a gamblin' man, I think I may do it.

I never pre order. Probably has something to do with my memory being like total crap and then I'd forget I'd pre ordered something and then have no money once the item is ready and it can't be delivered to me.

That's the way it is with me.

Plus, I don't think I'm as brave as you, Mike.

I'm not going to place my total trust in Playback/Universal UK based on their past doings.

But I must admit, having a two disk set of KR is mouth watering, eh?

Being a fan of both Knight Rider and the A-Team, I tend to lurk both here and on several A-Team forums. They too are getting a 2 disc boxed set the same day, and the rumors are that the episodes in the upcoming set are new ones not yet out on DVD.

One can hope that Knight Rider mirrors that release, and we get untapped episodes.

Well just a little update for you. I cannot back this up as official as details and news is pretty much non existent right now, but someone posted what could be the DVD front cover on the Knight Rider Uk Forum.... here’s an URL so you can see it for yourself.

DAMN! I don't have a non-regional DVD Player.

Why is it that the UK and the rest of Europe get this stuff before we do?! The show as invented and filmed in the states!

...probably because the UK (don't know of Europe) is still going through the 80's revival. You do also realise that Hasselhoff is more popular in Germany than in the US. Japan seems to be going through realising new KR toys all the time!!

The UK first release dates happen all the time - Futurama on DVD was released in the UK well before the US. We even got it down here in New Zealand before the US.

Who knows what goes through the mind of the studios.

Again, its a popularity thing. I personally love Futurama, and can't believe it was axed in the states, but I know its very very popular in the UK. I think its the same in New Zealand. Futurama wasn't that well recieved by the masses in the states, don't know why.

Knight Rider is still a memerable show to many in the UK. I've heard that bravos (UK-cable station) rating for the showing were very good...but the impression I get from the US-based fans doesn't seem as positive as it does here, which would explain the lack of releases in the US.

I think that's a real possibilty.
It seems to me as though after the DVD is produced, its up to each regional distribution branch to decide when they want to release it to the public. If a show is popular, they might decide 'let's get it out as soon as possible' but if it wasn't, they might be more strategic about it, deciding to release it between this similar show, and before this popular movie.

Well...Europe gets all the DVDs of the US' favorite shows. While the US gets all the video games from Japan LONG before the Europeans

The thing sometimes with DVDs of shows being released in Europe first, is that America is all about Syndication. For instance, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was on DVD in the UK a year or so before it was released states side. It was commonly known that the discs couldn't be released yet, because it hadn't been sold to Syndication outlets at the time, and releasing it on DVD would ruin some of the value of the Syndication that they were trying to sell. Now however, the success of the DVD market has changed so that shows are going right to DVD because they release the money in it. But this is a good reason why in the Past DVDs get releases in other countries before here. (still doesn't explain KRs shoddy releases grrr)

And sarfraz, Futurama and Family Guy (another show that was great but canceled) is getting a second life on Cartoon Network in the States. Their "Adult Swim" cartoon block gets more 18-45 aged male viewers than Leno, Letterman and Kilborn. The only talk show to beat Adult Swim is Conan. There has been frequent talk that new episodes are a very real possibility due to the success the shows have found.
