This was a present from my Dad for graduation from high school, a 1984 Pontiac Trans Am hard top black with tan aero package & stickers. It had a 305 5.0L V8 with a 5 speed maunal transmission from a V6 was installed (The car was originally a customer's car and was stolen off the lot and the kid that stole it wrecked the transmission and the customer no longer wanted the car after that) after it sat many years because at that time it was hard to find the V8 transmission that was in good condition. 1st gear was basically to just burn rubber because the gear ratios were higher and you could really start it out in 2nd. It had higher RPMs than original espcially on the highway in 5th gear. It also made noise sometimes shifting and or would grind going into gear. It had the original buldge hood with induction air. The engine was solid as it was rebuilt by my dad. The body had seen better days. The rear wheel drive of only the right rear wheel in winter was normally not good and I spun across traffic on the Rock freeway on one occasion with it getting only stuck in the snow. Rust was the ultimate problem along with damage to the aero package. When my Dad made a deal to trade a car for a 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with t-tops in better condition, I began to swap parts from car to car preparing this hard top car for sale. Chrome fender extensions were installed basically to cover up rust. Chrome wheels were on the other car and were swapped over replacing the stock tan rims. The aero package was removed along with the stock stickers. Exhaust tips painted chrome. The car was actually painted with spray cans and to my amazement it sold on Ebay for $2175.00! My Dad in shock said, "It is not worth that much!" That is when the final faze came in of repainting it again with spray cans, putting chrome stock style stickers and trim on the car and chrome truck trim to cover up where the aero package used to be. A nose bra was put on the front and both rear wheel wells had mud flaps installed. It made it overall look better in the end and the buyer seemed to like it as well and seemed to perceive it was worth the extra month wait for delivery.

This body style of the 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was featured in the television T.V. show Knight Rider

and the movie Smokey and the Bandit 3! It’s the 15th year model Trans Am. It had a 5L 305 V8 engine, a 5 speed manual transmission..., 4BBL Rochester Carburetor with working induction air hood scoop, which activates when the gas pedal is pushed down! It is a black 2 two-door coupe with t-tops that didn’t leak water unless the vehicle is taken into a high-pressure car wash. It has the tan accent stickers and rims, which were refinished and repainted to factory color. It has the black t-top bag in the trunk and the rear hatch shocks as well as the front hood shocks were replaced so the hood and trunk would stay open. The exhaust system was stainless steal. It had a brilliant stock red/orange gauge lighting & all the other interior lights were changed to red. The headliner was redone by me. It had the premium sound system with the button on the dashboard. It’s was my favorite car and the only reason I sold it is was because I bought another 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that was converted into the Knight Rider K.I.T.T (I bought off ebay for $8000.00 and the guy did not actually have a car for sale, it took months to get all the money back, long story, ended up with no trans am). The car was keyed before I got it and all the dents, dings and surface rust were removed. It had at least $2,000.00 of body restoration and paint done by my Dad. The hood and the bumper were the only things not touched. The door trim was removed totally and I had new tan stickers Trans Am Stickers for the vehicle that I included in the sale on ebay.

I know it's probably an unusual Question, but if you look at my name, you might understand why:
how much does that engine weigh?
