Yesterday, I PM'd Neil, telling him that when I logged in yesterday that my login attempts had reached the maximum and that I had to solve a CAPTCHA.
Neil has yet to get back to me, however, today the same thing has happened! I've had to solve a CAPTCHA because my login attempts were up.
I have never had this before in all my years on the forum.
I didn't want to bring this out publically but with the same thing happening to me again today, I feel it is important.

Hi guys,
This is an issue that Neil and I thought was limited to staff accounts. From what we can gather, it’s a widespread phpBB problem that’s being caused by spambots attempting to circumvent the anti-spam features that are used during the registration process by logging into active user accounts.
As long as you have a strong password, we believe that your accounts should be safe, but this is a situation that’s of great concern to us at the moment.

I deal with crap like this everyday. These flippin spamBOTs are major pain in the butt. I always tell my end users to use at least one CAP and 1 number and keep it @ a minimum of 6 charcters of a password and it should be fine

I only log in maybe once a day but the last 2 days Ive got a log in error,it keeps telling me I exceeded the log in thing and I have to go a Catchpa screen(not sure if thats right) to log in,so I put the letters in right and everything works fine,but I know Im not putting my name and password wrong.Any help is appreciated?

Just to let you guys know, I’ve decided to sticky this thread indefinitely. That way, it won’t get lost in the shuffle, as this issue is of the upmost importance to all of us at the moment.

if you are going to do that then in that case can you edit my original post up to where I say "I feel it's important" and cut out the last sentences about a hacker getting a life.
Seems pretty daft now.

Unfortunately, this problem doesn't seem to work like that Slade. To hazard a guess, I’d say the bots are cycling through the user lists on this and other sites, giving off the impression that normality has resumed, when in fact, those being affected when we aren't simply haven’t been around to notice it.

Its happening again.
The dreaded entering of the multiple CAPTCHAs
This is like the 5th time so far.
And it won't let me log out for some reason either.

When last seen, KARR's CPU was still alive somewhere in the desert and now he's trying to cause troubles for KRO thinking it's got something to do with the pompous Foundation who abandoned him in 1982
