What's Wrong with KITT

I posted this on my site; thought you might be interested too...
Street Mode KITT isn't exactly correct as a 2008 Shelby GT500KR. He's based on the 2008 Shelby GT500KR showcars which had different badges and wheels than the production model. Also, KITT has Mustang GT gauges instead of the correct GT500 gauges and an automatic transmission, which was not available on Shelby GT500/GT500KR.

that's simple to answer.
when they filmed the backdoorpilot in 10/2007, the Shelby GT500KR wasn't available, so they took some Mustang GTs and customized them to look like GT500KRs. that's how KITT came to his looks. now with the series KITT actually is a GT500KR, but customized to look just like he looked in the pilot (at least the exterior).

KITT isn't a true GT500KR. Its like Ari Gold trying to pass off his MB S500 as an S600 by changing the little 5 emblem to a 6 one. A little Entourage reference there, hope someone got it.

Nice. I actually love the Mustang much better than the Trans Am. Although when you watch the old episodes and see the cars in the background you can tell the Trans Am was the "it" car back then for the average joe.

Holy crap... I love that interior WAY better than the one that is currently in KITT. Well, the gauges are different but they look so much better.

You're right but you have to remember this is KITT which they would definitely change aspects of cause you want it to be known as KITT not just another Mustang. These changes are not at all surprising to me.
I'm not trying to be mean or sound that way just want to put my 2 cents in and I hope no one takes this personally.

I believe KITT's wheels are from the SuperSnake.

Yes, they use the 20" wheels on the Super Snake, but the GT500KR show cars wore them first. The GT500KR is a pre-title program, so they have to pass Ford's testing. The 20" wheels did not pass. The Super Snake is a post-title program and is not subject to Ford's testing, so Shelby Autos could use the 20" wheels.

No surprise really, KI2T wasn't a standard Trans-am they modified the Knight 2000 so its no surprise to me they change things on the GT500KR.

I'm a bit confused by this... if KITT's just a normal Mustang does that mean they've dubbed the supercharger whine over the standard engine, or am I just being a prat? For me, the sound of the supercharger on KI3T is as iconic as the scanner on KI2T.
