knight rider online

I was just thinking about knight rider 2000 and how Madock chose his own voice for the knight 4000.Wouldn't it have been cool so hear Williams voice after Wilton dies if he played both roles?What do you guys think?

I for one kind of like that idea, but Im sure Glen Larson will most probably have the last word on that
one, or the Wienstein Company.

It definitely would have been an interesting way to go, Knight Racer. However, I think that might have changed some of the symbolism of the pilot.

Basically, Wilton gave himself a sense of immortality by re-creating Michael's face in his own image. Michael was to carry on the work that Wilton couldn't complete himself. If Wilton used his voice for KITT, then it would be like he was reincarnated both as Michael AND KITT. That might have been a bit too much.

I forgot that aspect of the storyline because Wilton Knight didnt have the
overinflated ego to have KITT the car of the future carry his voice as well.
As great as Richard Basehart's portrayal of Wilton was, Im sure who ever is chosen will have big shoes to fill but there again Glen Larson has a tremendous ability to pick actors & a chemistry between actors
that is hard to match.

Well, the thing with why Russ Maddock used his own voice for the Knight 4000 (aside from ego) is that he had lost faith in human beings as a trial lawyer for so many years. I would say Wilton Knight's outlook on humanity was quite the opposite and more optimistic, hence K.I.T.T.'s humanity.

Well then everyone would just think KITT is telling the intro rather than Wilton. Although, I must admit it was only in the last couple years that I actually realized that it was Wilton doing that intro...

If William Daniels was Wilton Knight,I don't think he'd be using his KITT voice to do the intro unless he was asked to...Maybe he or someone else would have said somewhere in the that KITT's voice is based on his voice,but different,just to clear up certain things.

I was thinking that William Daniels should play Wilton Knight in the new 2010 KR movie,if he isn't playing KITT,or maybe he can be both...

I was thinking that too, from what i understand the likelyhood of William Daniels reprising his role as KITT for the movie is slim to none. Sad as it is this would because of him being 81 years old and as with films franchises are these days given that the film would be made with the hope of sequels his age then becomes problematic.

I would hope that Wilton Knight would pass away like he did in the original pilot because it gave his character more meaning. Also i would find it quite fitting to have William Daniels play Wilton Knight because his voice is part of what made KITT what he is and it would be a nice nod for us fans to see that in someway he also made KITT for the new generation.

I guess....but if he's in the movie...I want him playing KITT...

I agree. While it is a cool idea and many other remakes/reboots of film franchises typically have original actors in them for cameo appearances in other roles, I'd still rather see William Daniels back as K.I.T.T. It would be harder to accept hearing his voice not coming out of the car itself.

I see him as a scientist working on KITT who's voice was the inspiration for KITT's voice.
