How long do you think the new series will last?

Just curious as to everyone's opinion.
I voted for one season or less. Unless it gets somewhere near the ratings the backdoor pilot got, it won't last past the first season.

i voted longer than the original, if the show vegas lasted for 5 seasons, i think knight rider can do the same as long as it can match the vegas ratings.

Yeah, though what kind of budget did Las Vegas have? Whatever it is, KR should have something higher though the cost of the cast will probably be significantly less so maybe that's where the money could be freed up, heh.

Not trying to be a sourpuss, but I'm going to say 2 seasons just to be cautiously optimistic. Most shows I love seem to die premature deaths but it really seems that NBC is going to back this show 100%. I agree with others that some things from the pilot need improvement. The earlier statement saying they want to improve on the CG and effects is encouraging. Also, if their advertising campaign for the show is as strong as it was for "Bionic Woman", I actually think it might have a shot at going beyond two.

Depends on the quality of the show and the fans who are watching it.
If the creators hear what the fans want, like turbo boost, a better dash, maybe some other changes on KITT (remove the racing stripes, black taillights, no super-big-wing bodykit, ...) the show can actually be very good and best the original series.
So that's why I vote for "longer than the original".

Not to mention fix the theme music. The beginning was genius, but it sucked once the guitar crap got in at the end.

you cant really base las vegas as any kind of indicator for knight rider, the first couple of seasons, i think vegas was on mondays. i'm not sure which usually gets better ratings, mondays or wednesdays. but if knight rider sees decent ratings on wed., they may move it to see if it gets better ratings on a different day, then to kill the show, they might put it on fridays lol.

That was the best thing about the theme tune,to much techno crap and not enough guitar music nowadays!

Yeah, but that stuff toward the end was nowhere near the KR theme. The first part was fine, but once it got toward the end, it wasn't KR.

Agree with you a 100%. They should really build on the first 30 sec of the new theme.
The song keeps getting better, then they do a 180° into that lame guitar riff.

I voted one season or less. That is being cautious and it is being realistic. I think it will be more if they fix some of the problems they had with the pilot, or improve on it.

It all depends on how the general public reacts to it.Its all well and good if the original hard core fans watch the show, but if thats the only people watching the show it wont last very long. The new show has to get new fans interested in the show if it hopes to survive.

Longer than the original, some really crap series have been up to 5 and more, so I see no reason for Knight Rider not to have more seasons too.
The only thing that can go wrong with this theory is that NBC probably expects a really large numbers of viewers since it is Knight Rider, and if there are not that many viewers than the series might get cancelled in it's second season.

I'll hope it's a success, but it's a difficult climate. If it lasts two or three seasons I'll be happy.

I'd rather wait until we get the first 12 episodes out of the way.
If the ratings are still high after this, then I would say about 4 seasons, same as the original but only if it's a mission of the week type series.
If it involves a lot of stories being continued a'la Sarah Connor Chronicles or the X-files then it has a chance of going longer.

Being realistic about it, I voted for two seasons. I believe the show will be able to pass the 13 episode barrier and be renewed for a full season (if a full season isn't ordered in the first place). I believe if the show can survive a full season then it has the chance to survive to a second season.
However, I'm not as confident about the longevity of a concept like this. The original series was great, of course, but I honestly do feel that it ran its course in four seasons. (Not to mention the fact that a lot of members here even wish there wasn't a fourth season [or at least the way it was, anyway].)
A big key for ratings is the heavy promoting NBC Universal did with the backdoor pilot. If they amp up the promoting (especially for the first few episodes), I think it will greatly help keep the show afloat. The backdoor pilot promoting was great and extensive; even taking over MySpace.com's home page.
