Many of the series in contention for the Peacock lineup boast a fantasy or action element, including one show just added to NBC's 2008-09 roster: "Knight Rider," the Doug Liman-produced actioner whose two-hour backdoor pilot snagged solid ratings in February. Project has been given an episodic order and has been mentioned as a contender for a Friday night timeslot.
A VERY interesting article. It seems that NBC will be a bit more heavy handed with the "cancellation axe" if new shows aren't up to snuff.

so excited to hear about the show almost being officially green lit. however, i really do hope its not a friday time slot. that's not going to help the show lasting long. sunday or even tuesday would have been much better. well, here's to being happy that we'll at least be getting a few more episodes of knight rider. :D

Wow... I know we've all been saying that we should put off our Knight Rider parties until it's "official," but Variety seems to be pretty sure about it. They're definitely talking about it as if it's already been announced ... Maybe it has been?

I'm really going to be cautiously optimistic. I've wanted a new KR for ages, but this quote from the article has me slightly worried:
"He noted that nets frequently say one thing in May but then make major changes to their skeds over the summer. What's important is not that, say, "Knight Rider" airs Fridays at 9 but that the Peacock delivers some sort of action-drama in that timeslot."

The article goes on to talk about how they're selling "platforms", not really specific shows. I hope nothing else comes along that "bumps" KR from the line up! Fingers crossed!

Yahoo!! Im excited... BUT... Friday night is a bad bad bad bad bad, I REPEAT... BAD idea. Thats the night when everyone wants to go out on a weekend. If Knight Rider's ratings go down, it will be NBC's own damn fault, not ours.

The showrunner for the series will probably be Gary Scott Thompson, creator and showrunner of Las Vegas, and writer of Fast & Furious I & II. Vegas ran several seasons on Friday Night, so maybe that enters into their thinking. Nothing is cast in stone yet, anyway.

Let's see what NBC unveils tomorrow...

I can live with the Friday night time slot. It's not my favorite, but I can deal with it. Good news about the showrunner. At least it won't suffer from multiple ones like Bionic Woman did.

I'd love to sound optimistic and positive about this because it appears as if the best scenario has occurred. However, putting it on Fridays at 9 P.M. is suicide and will kill the show's ratings before it even makes it to air. If you couple this insane idea with the mixed reviews from the backdoor pilot, it's a recipe for disaster no matter how much is changed or improved. Also take into account that this is the type of show that is highly unlikely to last 5+ years as it is, especially on NBC. This show belongs on Sunday nights at 9 P.M. This makes me suspicious that NBC might only want to keep this show around for this particular season just to fill up their Fall schedule. They know better than anybody that it's a death slot.

I think we're forgetting that they can always move it.

Not good enough. Some shows these days get canceled after 1-3 episodes. Sometimes I say NBC really stands for Nothing But Cancelations.

Yeah, Friday isn't exactly a good night, when is the last time there was a successful, long running show on NBC, ABC, CBS or Fox that aired on Fridays?

AICN should correct the TKR thing since it wasn't Hasselhoff in the cameo. <_<

Not everybody goes out on Fridays guys, keep in mind how many people there are in the USA & Canada! Plus theres always DVR for those of us that do. The time slot shouldnt make or break the show, it will be the show itself.

Well. there's Numb3rs, Las Vegas, Ghost Whisperer...

Anyway, I've heard several different day and time slots mentioned. and actually, it could be a good thing. Keep in mind that Friday shows aren't expected to perform as well as shows on other nights--it's assumed that it's a slow TV night. A show that gains and keeps a respectable core audience can stay 'under the radar' on Fridays for some time.

While the news sounds good, I will wait for the Official Horses’ Mouth Announcement to confirm what the Horses’ Rear usually can't.

Don't think Sunday night would be good with all the sports crap coverage that time of year, i.e. Sunday Night Football, Baseball, etc. I would go with Friday night.

It's good if they can get GST to run it. He ran Vegas on Fridays for a good amount of years. But i had heard that he and NBC were kind of at odds over they way the cancelled Las Vegas with the "To Be Continued" without allowing him to give a proper conclusion to the story. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

:? I don't know. I vividly remember watching the original NBC Viper when it was on Friday nights and I believe it only lasted about 9-10 episodes. But I hope you're right if NBC does indeed decide to put the show on Fridays.

I think the Friday night slot has a better chance of working if they make the show a little more family friendly.
