knight rider online

I fell in love with this archive system while reading Doctor Who fanfic, & so I thought to create a Knight Rider one!

KR fanfic was the second or third fandom I fell into back in the early days of the internet & it used ta be spread all across the webs. But now with php and sql systems, ppl can post what they want w/o having to stash it on a server or worrying if it'll pass fanfiction.net's filters.

Hopefully with the new KR series the fandom will get a boost up and the creative juices flowing.

I'm still figuring out how some of the things work or busy poking css code around, but the database is ready. So have at it!

I remember back in the good ole days of the mid to late 90s, after I had discovered the fic Rusted Trust, the first KR fan fic I ever read, I went looking for more and found Knight Writers Online. Unfortunately that site disappeared a couple of years later, but not before I had a chance to read several fics by various authors.

The archive doesn't work by me adding the stories, it works by you creating an account and adding them. Like fanfiction.net works (but without all the limitations).

There's also sections for author notes, reviews, summaries, ect. The site is designed for a community feel.

Well I will set up an account tomorrow and add my stuff to it. it's certainly a nice idea, hopefully it will take off.

I'll bookmark it and see if I can remember to set up an account and post a few of mine, including one I won a prize here on KRO for and another that won a couple categories in the Edwards Awards one year. It's nice to have a site where you can find all your favorite fic in one place.

Currently, I been toying around with a alternate universe KR/Battlestar Galactica/Cylon fic series but never had time to really do much of anything.

BTW, I noticed you named the site "Knight Dreams" - I used to have a KR web site called "Knight Dreams" a long time ago. I like your choice of a name. Don't worry - I don't plan to make another site called "knight Dreams" though so you won't have no conflict from me.

Are you going to have a guideline for reviewing like other KR fic sites have? Like constructive reviews and comments are welcome, but flames are not?

That's my biggest gripe about ff.net. That anyone can be down right rude to an author, and nothing is really done about it. (I don't have a problem with people offering suggestions, but all I ask is that they aren't rude about it, you know?)

Great idea though. I like the setup so far.

Hah! yea that's why I hadn't bought a domain name yet. Knowing my luck, there's some other KR fic author who's site's that name, or who-knows-what.

Constructive comments are great.. but flames are not. The problem with FF.net is its size... when you have a huge site surviving off ad banner revenue, it's really hard to police. While the site is still small, it'll just be myself admining, if it starts booming, I'll most definitely look for extra bits of help.

I need ta set up the Meta tags for the site & post it on a few more KR and fiction communities that I know of on Livejournal. I don't know if there's any other surviving KR forum now-days other than this one.

I'm hoping that if the new series starts, that a new fandom will be born & come hungry looking for fiction.

I have to first validate uploaded stories before they become visible. Prevents ppl from just making an account and posting junk willy-nilly when I'm at work. One of the forums on my server is constantly being hounded by bots or bored ppl trying to make accounts and post spam.

I'm kinda debating on whether or not to allow photos to be uploaded. I'll think about it tomorrow and see if I can poke the css around any more to make stuff look good tomorrow night.

When I don't have any stories up, I dunno what things are gonna look like!

I think you should do with photos like you do with stories - review them before they are posted because you never know.

Bot spam is the worst.

This is wonderful! I implore everyone here to post their stories, (and tell your friends.) As someone who is relatively new to Knight Rider fanfic, I've been really disappointed with the lack of any good, central source. I'm currently in the middle of writing my first story, and I've been worrying about where to post it when it's done.

So far several fics have been posted and various other things added. I am continuing to work on the site in my spare time. A second KR-styled white based theme is in the works as well for everyone to use.

I'm working on a three to four stories that have the elements/basics,foundation characters of KR & some I created..all based here in New England...when done....I'm gonna post em here!
