Interview with Deanna Russo - Part 1 now online!

The first half of our interview with Deanna Russo is now online. She plays Sarah - daughter of Charles (the creator of the KI3T & KI2T) and is an impressive scientist in her own right.

Deanna really was a great interview, very forthcoming (which you'll see in part 2) and had alot of positive energy.
We'll have the rest of the interview for you on monday - have a good weekend!

Thanks. These interviews are really great, I like everyone that's involved in this except, ironically, Andron.
Dave Andron has been joking around that when he's allowed to write again, the first thing he's going to write is a moment where KITT's about to jump over an 18-wheeler with a million barrels stacked up and he just kind of drives around it...You'd be making fun of the original show, about how ridiculous it was to jump over cars all the time, how absolutely physically impossible that would have been (laughs).
Seriously, there's no Turbo Boost, we get it. Why does he have to be such a jerk about it? Having an SUV slam into a car - even an invincible one - and the receiving car not move AT ALL is equally unrealistic. So where does he get off talking about how realistic the show is?
If it turns out to be good, that's great and I'm grateful to him. But why is he so insistent on rubbing it people's faces that he intentionally didn't include one of many people's favorite aspects? I feel like he thought everyone would agree with him but when he saw how many people asked about Turbo Boost, he got defensive.
Furthermore, KITT vs KARR is the ONLY episode I can think of that they actually jump over (well, through) barrels.

Physically impossible? Physically impossible things are shown all the damn time on TV and in movies, so what? KITT was a production of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Action and Adventure, not "reality". The idea on how it might have been possible for KITT, a car that is nearly indestructible outside of certain circumstances and basically a ****ing jet engine. At least there was potential, somewhat logical and maybe loose physics based on it, but it could've still been in the realm of possibility. It's still certainly a hell of a lot more realistic than as cloudkitt state with how the car doesn't move an inch when it was hit by the SUV. Unless the car is some how magically able to change its mass, that's not happening.
Annnnyway good interview, she does seem cool, but the more I hear and read of Dave Andron the more the guy is annoying me, thankfully the actors and actresses are so far more likable. Dave Andron, Harald Belker and you Neil for making us wait until Monday for part two. You gentlemen are all on notice.

hey, I don't think it's fair to talk badly about Andron like that, certainly not putting him on the level of Harald Belker! They Cast & Crew were probably just asked the Turbo Boost question to death - so they're having a little fatigue in answering the question.
We spoke to David Andron, and he was a big Knight Rider fan growing up. You'll see from our interview this coming Tuesday that he has big respect for the original Knight Rider. The point of this movie is to try something new.

I think you're missing the spirit of the interview. For one thing, this is Deanna relating a story about David making a joke. David is NOT the one speaking here. So you're reading it 3rd hand. When you listen to the actual conversation (I was the transcriber), Deanna is laughing just chatting very conversationally, relating random stories here and there. And I kind of think a scene where KITT drives around a truck WOULD be funny. Think about Raiders of the Lost Ark: there's a classic scene where a big challenges Indy by doing this elaborate sword display. It's the perfect set-up for a great hand-to-hand combat scene. Instead, Indy pulls out his gun and shoots the guy. Funny. Because it's much more realistic, and yet is the exact opposite of what we expect as an audience.
That being said, yes, I do hope they get the hint and add Turbo Boost in the future.

I didn't mean for my post to come off quite so angry. It's totally forgivable to not include it if the rest of it is quality. I just don't understand his problem with it. I agree they're probably sick of hearing the question, but they wouldn't be annoyed if they simply had to answer yes, now would they?

I was just having a little fun there.. I moved some of those around on the list when I was doing it and I didn't notice I put him above Harald Belker, they should've been switched and in "reality" the three things below them would be above. Besides that, I mixed up Dave Andron and Dave Bartis because it was the latter that made the first "empty barrels" comment in the Sci-Fi Wire video last week. He's certainly not on Belker's leve and I'm sure they've been bugged to no end on the Turbo Boost questionl. But still, they shouldn't pull out the "fake" card as he did in the video given the same thing could be still said about that collision scene if thought about too much, no matter how cool it looks. Personally I don't go into seeing something to say "oh that's just so fake" it's something that's just in your face bad looking. That's just not fun to look at things that way. Besides that, the production company is named Dutch Oven, either that's taken from the cookware.... Or something else...........
But yeah, admittedly a scene like that would probably make me laugh too. However due to my error I have now put myself "on notice". I've taken you off Neil as well as Dave Andron but be careful, I'm watching you buddy!
Okay, I may be having a little too much fun with this thing....

Anyway, back to looking at the new preview vid at least few more times before commenting and hopefully falling asleep.

Ugh, back again... I needed to say something else before someone brought it up. Yes, many times in the old KR there were times where something looked bad, especially with Turbo Boost when they started to use those models instead of doing the actual stunt, as difficult as it was and the bad landings that were coming before the car "magically" landed perfectly and sure there was always the obvious view obstructing thing. But now, they certainly could do it and make it look much much better. If they wanted to drop unrealistic things there are certainly bigger (but much more minor) leaps in realism than Turbo Boost such as KITT's apparent psychokinesis that was occasionally driven by that damn microwave jammer or doing other things through Michael's comlink (which I do think should be kept in some way, not just use an Blue Tooth ear piece) like cracking safes or locks that didn't seem to have any sort of electrical system integrated in them. Hopefully they do make it to series and introduce Turbo Boost, just get some brains/nerds to work on a way to logically explain and do it, it shouldn't be too hard.
Ok, really... I'm out....

Even I am becoming sick of this whole turbo boost discussion. As if this was the essence of Knight Rider
Besides, I have to agree with Michael. The described scene from Indy is one of the most memorable and a scene where KITT drives around that 18-wheeler
would be funny!
But this interview isn't about Andron or turbo boost, it's about Deanna Russo and I think she appears to be a funny and down to earth person, which is great. If the cast and crew really gets along with each other that well, they already got the jackpot.
Hopefully they (and we) will really get their (our) 5 years of Knight Rider

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU:
Why do people here treat Turbo-Boost fans, (THE BIGGEST REASON THE ORIGINAL SHOW WAS A SUCCESS) like they're idiots with no intelligence whatsoever? It's insulting!!!!! If some people want the car to change into other cars, radios, or robots or whatever, fine. let the damn car jump over something!!!!!!!!! What's the big deal?
If it wasn't for the car jumps, 2 wheel driving, the show wouldn't have lasted long enough for the other stuff to make it a hit, like the MK, KITT relationships, blah blah blah. The show was never a love story, it was about an indestructible super car that could do crazy car stunts, mainly, TURBO BOOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone is soooooo desperate to have the show back, that they'll take anything!! Let's not bring up KR 2000, TKR (I'll leave out 2010 b/c it was an insult to television everywhere.)
If so many people are asking for Turbo Boost, maybe they should add it in someplace. Oh wait, Turbo Boost is unrealistic in every way, it's impossible, especially the physics. It's not like it was a REALcar being filmed doing a jump or something. It's not like I once saw a 1969 Dodge Charger jump, it was all camera tricks, the physics are IMPOSSIBLE. I've never, ever seen a car jump at a stunt show. But, just the other day I was sitting at a traffic light, I saw a 2008 Shelby Mustang transform into a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. Really, I swear!!

...He drove around an 18-wheeler in Knight of the Phoenix.
But yes, this is about Deanna Russo, and as with the rest of the cast, she has me in high spirits.

Kram, your post was completely uncalled for, you need to be put on to the top of that Colbear list!! Turbo Boost was not the reason the show was successful! Every kid liked different things about the car, as I've mentioned before somewhere my friends and I used to argue about which aspect was the best out of all his capabilities. I for one am glad it's not in here, it would look like an eighties show, and that's not what we want. No I am not desperate enough to accept anything KR-related, I hated 2000 and TKR, but this looks ace so far. So please, before you decide to shout and hurl abuse at others on here, take a look at how you are representing yourself on here.
And for heaven's sake, Andron was making a joke people!! This guy seems great and I hope he gets to become one of the show runners when it goes to series (fingers crossed)

i am just tired of people slamming us who want to see few car jumps. I am tired of hearing the excuse that it was unrealistic, but a transforming car is not. The entire show was unrealistic, that's what made it fun to watch. It's not like the plots had any deep though to it, if I wanted to watch a show about plots I'd watch Law and Order , there is a version on every night of the week. The show was originally about car chases. That's what MADE it a hit. Any relationship between MK+KITT was built after the car chases captured the audiences attention.
Even if this movie were to stink completely, how much worse could it be than what's on now anyhow? Especially on Sunday nights.

There may be jumps, a la driving over hills fast, or racing off of jumps etc as the series progresses, but just not necessarily turbo boost-enhanced ones. (And no, not the awful Dukes Of Hazzard ones where there'd be a convenient pile of stones to use every week lol.) I am all for more original stunt work, a new KITT needs a new modern armature and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Turbo boost feels like it would be out of place with a car designed around stealth and infiltration. Hey, they've hinted at not ruling it out, nor ruling out bringing the original series in more so maybe you'll see them some day. In the meantime, watch the new film with an open mind.

I have just read part 2 of the interview and I have to say wow! How cool is Deanna Russo?! She just seems to be a big fan like we are! I could perfectly imagine just hanging out with her talking about cool and geeky stuff.
This interview was really fun to read. I wish her all the best for the future and much more fun at the set of Knight Rider

She really does seem really cool. And the fact that she's gorgeous also helps

(wonder if she reads this?)
The cast just seem more and more perfect with every trailer, I'm very jealous of you Americans who will get to see it in a few days!
