I'm a teeny bit upset that they changed the packaging to a thin-case deal: I kinda like DVDs from the same series to match up. The Season One DVDs are gonna look huge next to the Season Two ones.

I don't think you'll even notice. Yes, the box width will be a bit smaller, but that was going to happen anyway since this set is 3 discs VS the previous seasons 4. You are talking less than a centimeter in difference. Also since they both have the same style exterior, it graphically will look the same.

why only 3 discs as opposed to 4 on Season 1? less episodes on Season 2 than on Season 1. Or is it because of the extras

It's because of the extras. The fourth disc on Season 1 contained souly "Bonus Features". Knight Rider 2000, a featurette, gallerys and KITTs owners manual.

In the Netherlands (Europe) are the release data :

Knight Rider - Season 2 - 15 July 2005
Knight Rider - Season 3 - 15 October 2005

I was very surprised that season 3 come out in October 2005! :D
I think that in America the season 3 dvd-set, before October 2005 come out, I'm not sure about that. I'm sorry for my bad English, my English is not very well yet.

the season 2 might be correct

you have any source info for the other release date?

Posted: Mon Jan 24, 2005 4:06 pm
by Aeneasnu
No, not yet. But the info came from http://www.DVD-home.nl. DVD-home.nl is connected to Universal Pictures Netherlands. That is a good connection :P

On the site you must type only "Knight" or "Knightrider" at the search field (r2 database), that is a mistake of dvd-home.

Re: Knight Rider Complete 2nd Season - April 12th!

Woohoo!!!!

I had seen April 12, 2005 on another web site but I was not sure if it was only a provisional date or an actual date.

It's earlier than expected. The only thing I do not really like are the Double Side - dual layer discs... My first set I had to return due to a defective disc.

Hurray for Universal!!! I heard that Season 3 may follow in late 2005 ?? Any news??

I'm gonna keep a look out at the local Wal-Mart, but a release date in April is gonna be torture for me.
It's gonna be 3 months of pain and suffering!!! :)

Knight Rider Season 2 will contain no bonus features.

**** :x
This strikes me as a little bizarre, but from a business standpoint it could mean that the Knight Rider set has suffered little or no tampering, and Universal want to advertise this to draw in more potential sales. On the other hand it could mean that Universal has little or no faith in Knight Rider (The A-Team and Magnum were both much more high-profile than KR).

:? Well, as long as there is no tampering... But Pooh!!! if those other sets have KR episodes as bonuses, should the KR season 2 have at least one free episode of the A-Team / Magnum?

As of now there probably wont be extras on any of the futher seasons, but that can change depending on how well they sell. The episodes do still contain the teaser in front of each episode, which kinda seems like an extra to me. They have also added a chapter break after the Credits to help those who like to fast forward that.

I agree with you, the "teaser" in front of every episode is pretty cool. Without it seems pretty bleak.

The set will have no bonus features because Universal's priority is to keep up a momentum for these sets. They don't want to wait too long in between seasons before the next gets released. This is why they got lazy and neglected adding bonus features to the second seasons of Knight Rider, The A-Team, and Magnum P.I. I also will not be surprised in the least if all the original music used in season 2 is removed and replaced with generic "muzak" because Universal is too cheap to pay to re-acquire all original songs for their shows.

It's pathetic that we have to actually look upon the opening teasers as bonus features now. What's even more pathetic is that this company thinks adding episodes from one series to another is a "bonus feature" when in actuality it's a cheap gimmick to advertise their other sets. And as chrisebourg pointed out, he had a defective disc on his set, ANOTHER common flaw from this company with their half-hearted DVD attempts. These people unfortunately own some of the greatest franchises ever, and unfortunately when it comes to DVDs, they suck miserably.

They want you to buy first, ask questions later. Still, as KR fans, how can we NOT go out and buy our favorite series on DVD? Universal knows this which only makes them more likely to put less effort in their DVDs. Why worry about taking the time to make a quality product when you know you're going to make your money off it no matter what? They're worried about time, not quality. As I understand it, they destroyed the first season of The A-Team by removing all of its original music as well.

I had pre-ordered spider man 2 from Amazon and I received it prior to the store release date. I will agree with you - Amazon is quick.

I pre-ordered KR 2 from them because of their great Customer Service - I would rather wait than go to a store and wait in line.
