the one thing im curious about is if they are gonna be the original uncut eps from the original NBC masters (or so i was told, hope this is true :?: ) will the first episode which was called knight of the phoenix when it was syndicutted, will it be back to the original 2 hour or whatever length it will be minus the ads and will it be missing the KOTP title card that was on the later airings?

They are probably going to follow the uncut masters like the other DVD releases. The UK DVD releases of the Pilot were refered to as solely the PILOT, with no reference to KOTP so I would imagine this would too.

Also, I got an email from Stu Phillips, who did the original score for Knight Rider and the first season compossing. He said he too was interviewed on camera for the Knight Rider DVD!

Head here:

http://www.playusa.com/playusa.asp?page ... =1&Cur=513

It lists KR 2000, the movie, as one of the features. So not sure about that documentary's title.

Of course, this site could have it wrong too.

Btw, pretty cheap price for us UK importers, eh?

...not really. The set from playusa will ship from the states, and thus liable for customs charges. Play use to import then sell on, but they have since started a playusa site, whose distribution is out of the USA rather than UK. This means instead of reasonable customs charges to play, all the clearance fee is passed on to you. The clearance fee of about 10pounds per parcel splits up nicely if the package contains 100DVD's, thus theres not significant effect on price.

Damn, I didn't think about that. I got charged a tenner for the Rambo set which I bought off there, cos of customs. That was only 4 discs.

Does that 'dvdboxoffice' site ship from here? If not, know any good dvd sites that you recommend that I can get away with customs?

cheers

http://www.dvdboxoffice.com ship internationally for free (from canada). So thats atleast a tenner off the total price. They also ship in non-descript packing (no fancy logos) so they seem to be missed by customs (personal experience). However, they don't have KR....yet. I'm at work, so could someone e-mail them about KR...see if their getting it.

EDIT: just e-mailed them. Should get an answer soon.

Knight Rider - Season 1 has been announced!

Fans of Knight Rider will be celebrating today because Universal Studios has just announced that season 1 of the series will be released on August 3rd. This 4 disc set will contain all 22 episodes from the first season on 3 DVD-18s (2 sides, 2 layers) and 1 DVD-5 (1 side, 1 layer) (4 discs total). Suggested Retail Price will be $59.98 and will contain a full frame (1.33:1) picture, English Mono soundtrack and English, French and Spanish subtitles.

Universal only lists 1 piece of bonus material - "Knight Rider 2000" - but we know there will be more. The other day we received an email from Joe Huth, the author of Knight Rider Legacy, telling us what some of the other bonus materials may be. It was his post on a Knight Rider message board that tipped us off to the DVD release last month. This is taken from Joe's email to us:

Extras they are hoping to have are Pilot episode commentary by David Hasselhoff and series creator Glen A. Larson, a jam-packed documentary on the series in general, including rare photos unearthed at Universal Studios' archive, my thoughts on the series, designing KITT, and interviews with other prominent cast and crew members.

We hope that these extras find their way into the finished set, but until they are officially announced by Universal we shouldn't treat them as fact. As we all know, "Bonus material is subject to change." If you want to read more about Joe's involvement in the set you can read this news item from KnightRiderOnline.com.

All I got to say is Hell Yeah! My wife has been bugging me to get my tape collection on KITT and The Dukes of Hazzard out of the study closet for the past 3 years. Now it looks like it's going to happen and I get to show my kids, when we have some (preferably 1-2) and not have to worry about a tape breaking.

Even though this doesn't seem to be much of a concern anymore, I think they included KR 2000 with the 1st season instead of the more logical idea of stickin' it with the 4th season because of the uncertainty involving the 4th season even making it on DVD (God forbid it not, please!)... just thought I'd add my opinion to try and clear that up. As for me, you can find me at my local Best Buy on August 3rd at 10 AM :P

I'll probably be at Virgin Megastore at Midnight on August 2nd, they usually will give you the DVDs right at Midnight. Gotta love NYC sometimes ;) But also, if you pre-order, Amazon and others have been known to ship it before it's actual release in hoped of you getting it on the actual release date... however sometimes the DVDs travel in the mail pretty quick and you'll get them before.

Does anyone know of a site offering a pre-order the region 2 dvds? I'm a bit wary of ordering a dvd from the states plus im pretty sure my dvd player cant play r1 dvds :( maybe my xbox can though...

Also congrats on the great forum! I think im going to be spending some good times here. I just recently started looking for KR sites when one of my friends showed me the Knight Rider 2000 movie. Really that ruined my enjoyment of the series but i thought i cant loose if i look for some of the original eps! I really cannot wait for these dvds to come out. Looks like i'll be spending me summer inside in front of a healthy tv glow instead of in the sun!

Sadly there isn't any Region 2 DVD preorder cause it hasn't even been announced for that area. We all hope that it will change soon cause we don't want any one to be without this set!

Welcome to the world of Knight Rider Undisclosedpower! We hope you have a blast here!

GAH! we'll im gonna pre order it anyway! need knight rider! if it doesnt play on my dvd player i'll just have to buy a new one (they are so cheap now anyways)!

Im finding it hard to choose where to get it from though. dvdboxoffice is tempting becuase of free shipping. Amazon.com is tempting becuase of the reputation of the brand. And playusa.com is tempting becuase of cheapness. Does anyone have any opinions about where to grab this boxset?

Not really until it's released (because then prices may change).

Its stalemate. amazon.com have the boxset at $40 but with addition costs on shipping where as dvdboxoffice.com has a price of $60 including shipping. I'm tempted to go with dvdboxoffice as it may get past UK customs. Wonder how much shipping from amazon.com to the UK is?
