What you "don't get" is that this subject is about
STANDEES in a
THEATER LOBBY. Not trailers, not tv spots,
not the motion picture vs. the television series. That's what irritates me the most. Goldbug and Solid Snake It's not about saying you're dumb or stupid, it's about saying
your going off on tangents that deviate from my original point.
That's why I tell you to pay
closer attention and I have consistantly repeated the same point yet people seem to continue to neglect it and place it right back into a motion picture vs. television show context.
I keep trying to steer it back on topic, other people keep trying to derail it again. Honestly if you're offended by what I've said, you shouldn't be. You're reading too deep into things. The people I openly dislike are usually on my ignore list. I have no problems with the rest of you.
I'll publically apologize if you feel offended but I have always stressed if you have a problem, send me a PM before turning it into some public spectacle. Often people misunderstand what I'm saying for one reason or the other. As long as you're respectful, I'll give you a honest answer in a PM. If you blatantly attack or burn me, i'll ignore you.
I have yet to see someone justify
why a standee for a television show belongs in a movie theater without someone dragging in "oh you're just pissed because Larson this and NBCU that", you don't consider the topic in general. I understand about advertising and whatnot but this particular instance
with standees isn't "common place".
In general I have not up to this point seen a television show STANDEE show up in a motion picture theater. For me it feels disrespectful to movies
in general. There has always been (up until now) a mutual respect between where studios advertise their products and where they do not.
My comments about trailers and commercials were not related to the standee topic itself. Those were used in a context to show how in my view, television is invading a place I personally don't feel it should be allowed to.
Fact is, it has invaded the sanctity of the movie theater experience and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it, it's just another sign of times changing. It shouldn't be a friggin crime to feel that way but apparently when I have a disagreement about something I guess everyone else seems to be "ok" with, I'm the bad guy.
Condemn me for pining for better times if you must but in the end I know some people out there will agree.
As far as my opinion about the standee situation in regards to
being placed in a television series vs. motion picture context, I've said how I feel about that subject and I'm not changing that position.
Faithful Car KRO - your comment about having seen the same crap on the screen, I can understand that but believe me when I tell you no one has any concievable idea what
specifically is being planned for the motion picture re-imagining of Knight Rider or it's "concept" so please with all due respect don't be so quick to catagorize it with the other spinoff/sequels/shoddy remakes out there.
Somethings are sacred and should not messed with and for me childhood memories and experiences is one of them.
Anyway I hope you have a better understanding of where I'm coming from and feel better. I'm not your enemy, I'm not here to make you feel stupid or to make myself feel superior to you. If you've chosen to become an enemy that's a whole other matter but utlimately forums are for freedoms of expression and friendly differences of opinion.
I can agree to disagree.
