What was Knight Rider called in your country?

Post by Michael Pajaro » Fri Sep 30, 2005 1:20 pm

I know in many countries where Knight Rider is dubbed into the native language, they don't literally translate the title "Knight Rider". For example, in some countries I think the show is called "supermachina" or something like that, basically "Super Machine".

So what was the name of the show in your country, and how would it translate into English?

I think in spanish it is called "Elfantasticomagnific" or something like
that. Some spanish guy came running up to me and my car once
saying that and I was like "What?"

Finally after a few other non understood words, he saaid KITT. I was
like OHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Yeah!

I may have pronounced that a bit off as it was a few years ago he said
that to me.

I remember a similar topic posted a while ago, but anyway....
Here in Slovenia it is called: Vitez za volanom
It's translation would be: A knight behind the wheel :kitt:
So...... I have no idea what to write here.

Isn't there a spanish Knight Rider site called "El Coche Fantastico"? I think I remember someone from there posting in here a few times, and they had some pretty neat stuff on their site too. Some of it humorous, like the "Auto Suck" mode video, for example. ;)

In Italy it has been translated with another English word: "Supercar" :D :karr:
Knight Rider has a too hard pronunciation for people who don't know English :P

In Brazil, Knight Rider is called "A Super Máquina". It seems "The Super Machine".

In Argentine it´s called "El auto fantástico", instead of "El coche fantástico" like in Spain, "the fantastic car".

Just for the fun of it, I put "knight rider" through Google's translator and got this:

"Rittermitfahrer"

:)

Sometimes I like to try the translator. I wish I could learn German since some of my great grandparents are from that country.

POLAND
Polish name Knight Rider in TV is Nieustraszony. Nieustraszony in English is fearless, but real name Knight rider in Poland is Rycerski Jeździec.

Sorry, but my English is very weak.

I'm 1/3 Polish as well, and also 1/3 Lithuanian. I always wondered what it would be called in my great-grandparents' languages. :) Now does anyone have a Lithuanian translation?

Peter - You are doing well with your English though. :) And welcome to the board! :)

In Finland:

If you translate that directly it means "Ace Knight" :D Luckily they don't do dubbings in here (except for kids cartoons) but the title is translated.
