I like yours better than mine, andy-kitt! I wanted to cut out spaces for the fog lights as you have, but I don't know how to do that with the car being metal. How did you do it?

I didn't think that I could remove the LED board from its position, so I didn't want to try and break it. I've also been looking for a yellow lens to place over the scanner like on the show. I also suspected that the silver paint was never supposed to go over the top of the rear bumper but I could never get a good look in the episode to make sure.

I would recommend painting over the front orange reflectors with Insignia Yellow paint. I find the orange paint makes it look more like a toy.

Use a multi-tool to drill out & sand off the centre supports.

The LED board is very well stuck down, have to slice it off. Yes i've been collecting many pictures from the episode before carrying out this project.

I only had orange in my paint tin collection, is the yellow you say metallic?

Thanks, I might try that somewhere down the line. But since the center supports will be drilled out, what did you use to get your fog lights to stay in place?

The paint I used was not metallic. Do you think metallic would be more accurate for the model?

Here's some pictures of what the yellow paint looks like on my K.I.T.T. & K.A.R.R. in case you didn't happen to see them:

Oops, sorry, guys! I had switched the privacy settings back to private a few days ago because the thread the links were in was getting old. I forgot to make it public again but just reset it now.

Nice die casts. :) I am still debating. I think after I put the AMT/Ertl kits together and see how they turn out, I might consider the diecasts if I have the money. Still don't know yet.

I hadn't noticed that the front side marker lights were that light until you said. Your pictures look realistic. The reason I said metallic as they are reflectors as well aren't they?

KARR's still no where to be found :(

Clutch pedal

Post by 66batmobile » Mon Aug 08, 2005 7:32 pm

This may have been brought up before, but why does the Ertl car have a clutch pedal?

It was just an oversight by the company. I just snapped mine off. :)

Based on this website, the ERTL Recaro Trans Am slated for August of this year has been cancelled! What gives? Any of you guys heard of more news about this so-called cancellation?

Maybe they're worried that it won't sell? I can't imagine that the sales for K.I.T.T. have been all that impressive here in the states, but probably because of its availability. I don't know...just guessing, though. Whatever the case, it seems pretty shady to me.

That bit of news worries me a little, I really want that diecast car. And as of now there still isn't a photo of it on the net. And its supposed to be released this month. Something's not right here. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed though.

I'd think the regular 3rd gen TA 1:18 diecast model would sell more than KITT & KARR models. Not everyone is KR fan but the 3rd gen Trans-Am is very good looking car and probably many people would want it to their collections.
This is just wishful thinking but I hope it's releasedate would be just postponed to redesign the trunklid & some other things more accurate. Or even better, giving the modelling job for AutoART or some other high quality maker :D

They canceled the Trans-Am diecast? :( I was thinking of getting one when it came out. The way the website puts it (ERTL has cancelled this model for now) makes it sound like it might be issued at some point, just not in August.

As for KARR, I don't think I'll be buying him. I can't bring myself to spend another $30 to essentially hunt for a diecast KITT I already have with a different color scanner. Maybe if it was cheaper, I'd ad him to my collection, but not at $30. (Sorry KARR. Bested by your 'little brother' yet again.) Even if the diecast Trans Am ended up as a reworking of the KITT model, it'd at least be different enough to tell the two apart at first glance.

Where did you pay $30 for you KITT? Amazon? eBay has them cheaper.
