which KITT 1/64 diecast is the best?

Post by paul e l » Thu Nov 04, 2004 7:37 am

i'm looking at this webpage....
http://www.showcasetoys.com/knightrider.html
between the one made by Hot Wheels and the one by Ertl, which is the best? as far as detail and proportions being correct.
wondering if the reason the one by Ertl costs more is because its better.

The ERTL one is from the 80s when the show was on TV - hence the extra cost (it's old). The Hot Wheels one I'm led to believe is much better.

i say the HW is the best for exterior appearance. the one made by kenner has the most detailed dash out of all.

I have both 1/64s.

The Ertl is just a TA with a red sticker on the front.

The Hot Wheels is the better of the two. It actually has the front end moldxed in to the body. They also have a KARR version out. I don't have that one, but I would presume the scanner on KARR is yellow.

i have every 1/64 version of KITT and the HW KARR.
KARR's scanner is painted red and his interior is black. the HW KITT has the correct color interior(except the dash is tan) and his scanner is made out of transparent red plastic.the only dislike i have with the HW version of KITT is that the scanner is hard to see. unless you hold it up in a very well lighted area, you can hardly notice the scanner is there.it looks black unless you look at it close.

Right now I am looking for the knight 1/64 replica that had a little sticker on the dash and white around the rims. I had one back while knight rider was real hot like 83-84. but i can not remember who made it. Do any of you remember this or have a pic of one. thanks

...thats the Kenner one. Some of these are on eby from time to time with the turbo-booster launcher or the Comtron truck.

Here are some pictures of the Kenner Crash Set that you are looking for, courtesy of ebay. I wouldn't purchase the one in the auction though, the seller is asking for an incredibly high price for it.

thanks, for the info. i really want that car but, at that price i might as well try to get the 1/13 talking kit--used that is. I know that a new one in the box went the other day for over $300.00. i already have the corgi 1/36, japanese hotwhee;s 1/64 and ertl 1/64 preordered the 1/18 kitt. I would think the 1/64 kenner car would make a great addition

Looks like you're in luck! Check out this auction of the 1/64 Kenner KITT in a sealed package.

I am the seller of the item above, it is not such an incredibly high price, this item is rare and the one I am selling is the best condition you would ever find. You cannot expect to pick one of these up for peanuts! But If you want a cheaper alternative I have another MIB example for sale starting at £0.99p No Reserve. See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 32016&rd=1

That is true if the price stayed at .99 but if it goes to 20.00 then its like 20.00 shipping from where you are to the states. I understand the high costs of internation shipping. But that would be 40.00 for it. I want it, but not that bad. I imagine I will find another 1 here in the states.

Hi

I understand but I can't be fairer than starting one at £0.99p No Reserve to give everybody a chance of winning it. International Shipping to the USA is about £10. I don't think you would find one in as good a condition as mine in the States for £40.00 or less. eBay is an international marketplace and the way things go nowadays, that is where most of the specialised vintage toy sellers, such as myself, put the best examples for sale. I have 2 top condition boxed examples of the Knight Rider Crash set available on eBay, who else do you know who is selling them?

Read what the post I put up, i understand e-bay is about people making money and I am not suggesting you are overpriced period. I am just saying I would rather pay a lower price for a used one. Just like if i actually win the kenner talking knight rider 1983. I would not pay 300.00 for one mint in the box. I would rather pay $60 to $100 for a working used on. I agree your mint condition turbo set is prolly worth $40.00 in true value. It just is not worth that much to me.
