Does anyone have an opinion about the theme music to KR? Should the new film utilize the original theme? What do think?

Hmmm....Hmmm....I love the original theme music, but should it be used in the movie? Very interesting question. I have mixed feelings about it. I do, but that would be "dating the show," so I guess a newer version of it. MAYBE something SIMILAR to the KR 2000 movie theme...or maybe not? How about the techno remix of theme song? I don't know.

KR music and theme

The knight rider theme remains the best theme tune ever ! its so out there, i say keep the original but modernise it, maybe get it going on the guitars perhaps. Think limp Bizkit - Take a look around, the Mission Impossible theme, thats a great one aswell and sounded great through the guitars. especially if this new film is supposed to appeal to the fast and the furious type, that had a mix of metal and rap for its soundtrack.

well all 9 (and counting) Star Trek movies and all of the new shows (havnt seen ENTERPRISE so cant tell you) use part of the old alexander courage's music from the 60s show. So it wouldnt surprise me that they would use it (or parts of it) in the movie.

They could remake it so easily that it would seem like a modern theme. Just look at what Bruce Broughton did with the Lost in Space theme. It still had the original melody but was so radically re-done, most people didn't even realize that it was the origianl theme until they heard it a few more times.

And on a side note, "I'm In Love With My Car", albeit a great tune recorded Queen in its own right, would just date the whole movie unless it was revamped or redone by someone big in the music business. Just pray that Britney Spears or the Backstreet Boys don't EVER hear that song and want to do it.

Enterprise's opening theme is a cover of a rock ballad by Rod Stuart, performed by the british opera star by the name of Russel Watson. The song has two commonly used titles, "Where My Heart Will Take Me" or "Faith of the Heart", which no-one seems to be able to figure out which is the real title. Lyrics below.

It’s been a long road
Getting from there to here
It’s been a long time
But my time is finally near
And I can feel the change in the weather now
Nothing’s in my way

And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No, they’re not gonna hold me now

Chorus:
Cause I got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
'Cause I've got faith, Faith of the heart

It’s been a long night
Trying to find my way
And through the darkness
Now I'll finally have my day
And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No, they’re not gonna change my mind

Chorus

I’ve known a wind so cold
And seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel
They're only winds of change
I’ve been through the fire
And I’ve been through the rain
But I’ll be fine…
Chorus

‘Cause I've got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe,
I can do anything,
I've got strength, of the soul,
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
'Cause I've got faith… faith of the heart

I would think that with the basic beat that the original KR tune had, merging a more modern sound to it or on top of it would be easier done than said.

I think the KR theme should not be indentifiable as coming from a particular artist. I'd rather prefer the idea of a composer, like Stu Phillips, who can create something unique to the show. Besides, I've personally seen too many modern shows using the rock of groups akin to limp bizcut and the such, and have a hard time swallowing that. I guess I just think the entire concept and basis for the show goes against blazing guitars and blaring, unrecognizable lyrics. KR should have a very cool, yet distinguished and courtly theme which provokes thoughts of heroism and chivalry, in my opinion. That would separate it from the piles of other "action" shows that popped up in this last decade all from the same mold.

Ok This Song Should Be Featured In The New Kr SOng
The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a pumpin'
And the hubcaps all gleam

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
With my hand on your grease gun
Oh it's like a disease son

I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy racer roolbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal
Told my girl I'd have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So she made tracks sayin'
This is the end now
Cars don't talk back
They're just four wheeled friends now

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When I'm cruisin' in overdrive
Don't have to listen to no run of the mill talk jive

I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
I'm in love with my car
String back gloves in my automolove

And Here Is Another One
Adventure seeker, on an empty street,
Just an alley creeper, light on his feet
A young fighter screaming, with no time for doubt
With the pain and anger, can't see a way out,
It ain't much I'm asking, I heard him say,
Gotta find me a future, move out of my way,
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now,
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now.

Listen all you people, come gather round
I gotta get me a game plan, gonna shake you to the ground
Just give me -- what I know is mine,
People do you hear me, just give me the sign,
It ain't much I'm asking, if you want the truth
Here's to the future, for the dreams of youth,
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now,
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now.
I'm a man with a one track mind,
So much to do in one life time (people do you hear me)
Not a man for compromise and where's and why's and living lies
So I'm living it all, (yes I'm living it all)
And I'm giving it all, (and I'm giving it all)

It ain't much I'm asking, if you want the truth,
Here's to the future, hear the cry of youth,
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now,
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now

Hoo boy...in reference to the first song, I'm not too sure about the "hand on your grease gun" line, but that's just me. However, I think "cars don't talk back" kinda contradicts so much of KR.
