'Heaviest' episode

Post by Arjun » Sat Dec 13, 2003 1:03 pm

There have been discussions on what could be the best episode (probably TDR), worst episode (many voted for a Season 2 episode), even the saddest (many said the movie was quite sad). This time, I'd like to know what's the "heaviest" episode in Knight Rider that you have seen.

By "heavy", I mean dark, strong, bold, either to set a viewer thinking, or to scare someone. But not something for a 10-year old. A certain Season 3 episode might be called heavy, or strong. Your opinion?

The "heaviest" episode would be "Scent of Roses" by far... Michael deals with his mortality and his life for what's really the first time since "Knight of the Phoenix"... Stevie comes back into his life, and it looks like he'll be able to settle down and share his life with someone, only to have her killed in cold blood at the wedding... and then at the end, Michael goes after her killers and comes close to killing the guy who pulled the trigger, the first time we've ever seen Michael come close to intentionally killing anybody on the show, ever.

"The Scent of Roses" hands down was the most heaviest episode. (too bad it wasn't used for the series finally!) And yes, Michael would have killed that man had KITT not been there to stop him. "Michael, Michael, stop it! You wouldn't be able to live with yourself."

Also, that was the only episode outside the pilot where we saw Michael shot and nearly killed. (Michael owes KITT his life many times over)

I've never seen "Scent of Roses," but it does seem rather sad and touchy based on the way everyone talks about it. I do know that Stevie gets killed and Michael feels like his life is actually falling apart. He thought he could finally give up on all the action and settle down to live a normal life.

The most touchy thing for KR that I've ever seen was Devon getting killed in Knight Rider 2000. It was quite a shock to me when that happened. I didn't believe it until they jumped to the funeral scene. I saw an actual episode later that day and all I could think when they showed Devon was how he was going to be killed in the future.

Since it's not really a part of the series, I do not like to include it with the actual story. That future stuff just seemed so bogus. Especially now that the year 2000 has come and gone. Anyway, I believe the most touchy episode that I have seen would have to be "Knight of the Phoenix."

Here's the second-draft script, posted over at Paul's KR Archive. I haven't seen the episode for several years (not since KR was being shown on WGN), but I think it's pretty close to what we saw on TV.

Exactly what is the name of the song Stevie is singing when Devon walks into get her for Michael in "Scent of Roses." I know it was an orginal song, probably from the 70's or 80's.

That isn't the only time Michael's hurt other than the pilot. He gets shot in the one where he loses his memory all the way to Micheal Long doesn't he?
Michael: "KITT! Where are ya?!"
K.I.T.T.: "I'm in your parking space, Michael, where else would I be?"

Yep, he gets hurt a lot throughout the series.

Knightmares, he loses his memory back to Michael Long.

Lost Knight: He acts hurt after KITT gets electrocuted.

Ring of Fire: Dog attack!

Knight Song: Gets the snot beaten out of him.

But Scent of Roses is the only other time since the pilot that he gets shot. :)

You'd have to ask David Hasselhoff how strong a fighter he really is for an answer on that one.

True. An actor can act. But, only to the best of their abilities.
