RC 1/10 KITT & scanner

Post by ElaSteK » Wed May 11, 2016 12:52 pm

Hey guys, I am starting a 1/10 KITT RC build, gonna use a Tamiya TT02 chassis, got my hands on an Aoshima body but couldnt find the Aoshima wheels & scanner. Has anyone got a scanner they are willing to part with?? Haha, long shot but you never know !
Also got an old Nikko 1984 Trans Am, see what i can do with that.

I am thinking of getting a 3D print done for the nose/bumper, any help would be appreciated.

Anyway, I will post photos of the WIP as I go, and please share your own RC projects!

I suppose if you are feeling adventurous into the electronics side of programming, you could install something like a Raspberri Pi to run effects like red LED's that could fade out and play WAV files like the 'swoosh' sound and maybe even show quotes. Could even go so far as a tiny LCD monitor on the dash.

here are some photos of the build and -almost- completed KITT. I am quite happy with the rims, which i think look better than the Aoshima ones. These are standard Tamiya wheels that came with the kit, the 1/10 R/C Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI Jägermeister (TT-02 Chassis).

here's the beast. still waiting for the scanner, an Apex LED Sidewinder. not sure how good it looks, but i might use one of my 1/24 Aoshima scanners and ask an electronic shop to swap the leds for larger ones. thoughts?

Hey everybody,

Finally got my hands on a set of original Aoshima wheels & scanner and have a gorgeous looking KITT on a Tamiya TT01 drift chassis with a few upgrades.
I also got a new body which has not been drilled, I used velcro instead to attach to the chassis. Planning to upgrade the foglights to six leds instead of 4 and add a grill effect.

Will post some better photos in the next few days.

Cheers!

Now the real trick would be to have the 3D printing company scan that KITT body and start selling them! Great job!

Last I knew, 3D printing has yet to master metals. However, with what I've been seeing recently about how computers are coming up with superior strength designs in plastic, constructing a metal car may be soon deemed as an old fashion approach. Why, there's even some projects aiming at literally growing a car via plant fibers.

I do envision a potentially close future where a hobbyist can set up a garage sized 3D printer and literally print out a fully functional (probably electric) car in probably a week's time. This vision also includes a food 3D printer that makes dinners out of tubes of paste and household printers that make things...like TV's, PC's, Cel-Phones...or, more likely the Augmented Reality headsets that virtually replace all those antique electronics. A world where you order something via the internet, pick up a printer kit at your doorstep via drone delivery and have it ready...almost as quickly as you had needed to go out, drive to a brick & mortar building, shop, evaluate, purchase, come back home, un-box, set up, call tech support...

Hey guys, here a few more photos of my 2 1/10 RC KITT, with trimmed shell to make them more accurate. I basically trimmed the lower body about 8mm. Very happy the end result! The one on the right is complete with original scanner & rims and I can't tell you how long i spent online looking for those!
The one on the left with custom rims & no scanner and is for sale on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/162488805376?ss ... 1555.l2649.
I might consider selling the one with scanner too.

Hey all, it's been a while! Just wanted to pick your brain. I am planning to sell the previously illustrated KITT with scanner & rims (these are completely out of stock, trust me i've checked!), I have since upgraded the chassis to a Tamiya TT02r with plenty of aluminium upgrades. It is pretty much brand new & has not left its shelf. How much do you think I could ask for it keeping in mind that I am trying to make a profit here! Thanks for your answers & happy holidays to y'all !!
