KITT Headlight Help

Post by 86678 » Mon Aug 05, 2013 4:19 pm

Hi everyone, I need some help.
Trans Am KITT:
Does anyone have a pic of the tv show's KITT's headlights popped up? or a replica's? reason I ask is because I have so far only seen on replicas that the "headlight surround?" is removed with just the light there, like it does not fit or something with the KITT bumper?

Mustang KITT:
On his head lights what is that "squareish" thing in front of the headlamps? I have seen it on "some" gt500krs but never a gt500, what is this?

Thanks for reading my questions.
Have a great day! :kitt:

I know that KITT's headlights are popped up in season 1 for sure. I have a KITT replica with an accurate season 3/4 nose and the headlights still work just fine. I can post pics later. 8)

You have to remove by cutting off the inner "lip" under the metal light cover and sand it back flush for the headlight bucket to be able to pop-up without catching on the nose. on 91-92 cars it's already done.. :-)

89IROCNDoug - So do the headlights look normal like the regular trans am? Or do they look chopped off on the bottom like the 1-18 Hot wheels elite model? Thanks :) :kitt:

86678, the square thing you're referring to on the Mustang is a light shield for the factory HID headlights. They were an option on 2008 and up.

86678, I think they look normal like a regular stock Trans Am. From BoMcD's post, it looks like the inner part only needs to be altered. On my KITT, which already had the KITT front end when I got it, I think the inside part was just taken off. I have both a KITT replica from an '84 TA and a stock '84 TA I can compare and take pics to post later.
