Was fortunate enough to chance upon this while on my business trip abroad:

the 1:43 model is nice too,

got mine recently, still waiting patiently for my 1:18 version to arrive as well.

I'm glad they fixed the problem with the scanner from the 1:64 version as well, it looks much more accurate

Got another 1/43 today (to open and display). Was supposed to get a 1/18, but am now unsure after reading all the reviews. The quality is pretty much consistent with my "sealed" KITT (had to take a peep inside to make sure everything is intact and the car is still on its plinth) apart from the tissue paper that was off-center and the loose lower half of the scotch tape sealing the acrylic case. The circular tape sealing the outer box was completely sealed (no fingerprints, signs of resealing, etc), so tampering wasn't an issue. Anyway, being a display piece, I didn't worry about it too much. I also gave the whole model a little shake and nothing came apart.

Here are images that I took in case anyone is interested in getting the smaller elite KITT. Since there is no 1/43 thread, this can serve as an unofficial one in the interim.

Looks great.. Not as sharp as the Aoshima 1/43 KITT, but it still looks great nonetheless! I really like that they included a base and an acrylic display case this time around for their 1/43 models.. Something that was lacking on their 1/43 A-Team van and Ecto-1.. This will for sure look great on display.

But I really wish that Hot Wheels could've at least included some electronics for a light up scanner on their 1/43 KITT...

They vary in price online from $60-$90, best to shop around,

I think from memory I paid $76 in a local toy shop for mine.

Is it possible to fit a 8-inch Michael Knight figure on 1/43 or 1/64 versions of Kitt?

8 inch would be too big for a 1/43 and 1/64.. Its also too big for 1/18.. 4 inch would be the best for a 1/18...

No, just like the 1/43 models Aoshima made, the doors, hood and trunk do not open on the Hot Wheels 1/43.

I would have preferred it if they had faded out the red front scanner light to make it look like it was working, and I don't get the big black lower side window lines, would have looked better if they didn't bother with it. Tyres look better than those on the 1:18, and for those on a budget, 1 matching 1:43 KITT & KARR would look smart together.

Indeed.. They do have plans on releasing a 1/43 KARR soon. These 1/43 models do make really nice display pieces...

Here is the 1/43 KITT & KARR from Skynet

The Hot Wheels Retro KITT is a nice diecast of KITT, at 1/64 scale, its smaller than the 1/43 KITT, but still a nice KITT to have and it isn't expensive, perhaps the best looking 1/64 KITT made so far. The Hot Wheels 1/43 KITT on the other hand is a nice display piece with the clear acrylic display case. More details of course than the retro KITT, you won't go wrong with either one. I recommend the 1/43, but seeing as the retro version can be bought at a low price, you might as well just get both...

Would indeed be nice if they had made that as an alternate/SDCC version. That would take the top spot on my display case. Wouldn't want the feature for my storage pieces though due to the batteries.

Hehe, I wouldn't lump budget and Hot Wheels Elite in the same sentence, but, yeah, completing that 1/43 pair is a must for me!

If you could get (or want) only one piece for your collection, get the 1/43. You could also go for the 1/18 (if you don't mind the flaws). At least it is still better than the Diamond Select version which is also still in circulation. I also bought the regular 1/64 HW and the retro version and they are really affordable. Wasn't actually going to get the retro version anymore, but it looked nice when grouped together with the A-Team van, Ecto-1, and co.

You're a KR 2008 fan, first and foremost, right? If you want a degree of uniformity, you could tailor your scale choice on the Shelby model you plan to get. I don't collect KR 2008 merchandise, but I can help you out a bit:

It's the closest I have to a 3000 and it's a Black Bandit.

Great looking photos! Even though I already have the Aoshima 1/43 KITT and the Elite 1/18 KITT, I might just pick one of these up...

I WANT ONE!!! Where was the Toys-r-Us that had it? I search for it here in Tucson-NO LUCK!!!! If I saw it at Toys-R-Us-I WOULD BUY IT THAT SECOND!!! Brick and Motor Stores like Toys R Us should carry it, so they wouldn't lose more money to online stores and Catalogs like Prevews Magazine. As for the Person who said You Can Never Have Too Many KITT's, I say-GOD BLESS YOU!!! I agree with you 1,000%!!!! I've been saying that to people for years-It's Nice to know I'm not the only one that feels that way. :good: :good: :good: :good: :D :D :D :D :D

you can find them cheaper on ebay, usually the local toy stores if they have it, you will end up paying full retail.

True, if you don't mind the risk of something getting damaged or lost in the mail, ebay is your best and cheapest source for stuff like this.

Paid 44 Euros from mine at Modelcarworld.de and now noticed Modelissimo.de has lowered the price for this model as well, now it's there for 39,95 Euros:
