Knight Rider to receive the Minimates treatment this January

Post by neps » Sat Dec 31, 2011 5:08 pm

As you've probably aware (with the prototype images floating around for several months) Minimates has been working on a Knight Rider themed product, with Michael and KITT and Garthe and KARR.

Image

We've recently spoke with them and put together a little gallery of the final production models if you want to check it out. They're very conscious of our critical eye, and hope you'll appreciate the products - forgoing the liberties they've taken in order to reduce them to 2 inch figure and 4 inch car scales. Hopefully if all goes well, there will be more to come!

We will have them to review in a bit, and hopefully some to give away as well. :)

Looking forward to the review! I like what I've seen of these so far.

KARR's scanner should be yellow but, ah well. That's probably a little worse than the mistake on the 1:18 KITT's with the wrong fog lights.

Yes, it's definitely...peculiar. And a very easy detail to get right, nevertheless.

Aside from that it's awesome that they even made a Super Pursuit Mode version. All the models look great.

A couple of points to keep you updated that we got clarification on from Diamond Select Toys:

1) The final KARR product will have yellow scanner.

2) MSRP he believes is $14.99

seems reasonable!

also should be in stores this Wednesday.

If only I hadn't had to go out and get a new TV and upgraded digital cable box. (Just to use the VCR/DVD converter I got for Christmas.)

Would love to add these to my KR collection. Maybe I can later down the road.

KARR has arrived! He's sitting on my desk, staring me down.

Some quick comments - yes, the scanner is a yellowish color. There is some assembly required for stickers, blackout light. the interior has a dash, center and overhead consoles. the dash stickers depict the season 1/2 dash, however it's only a 1 TV mold. (probably to make the KITTs accurate for SPM mode)

These Minimates are the most adorable thing I've seen! If I see these I'm totally picking them up. I've only found KARR and SPM KITT online so far. I'm kinda holding out for regular KITT. However, if I saw these in a store I'd snatch 'em up in a heartbeat.

I just bought SPM kitt this morning off Amazon andKarr tonight.I still have yet to see a single interior pic of the cars dash or monitors or anything.Just the exterior shots.I just got to track down a regular version of kitt with pilot episode red shirt Michael. My office manager might get pissed with all the stuff i'm getting shipped lol.

I drove down to my Toys R Us today and they said they aren't getting any new inventory until a week before February. That's probably why I can't find any regular kitt's on ebay yet too, just karr and spm kitt.I did order those on Amazon.com last Thursday. While I was down there I looked at the back to the future 2 deloreans and they are huge.Gives me an idea of how big spm mode and karr are going to be when I get them in the mail in a few days.Still wish I could see what the interiors look like.

I picked up the SPM KITT off Ebay, I gotta admit they are pretty sweet! its a shame it doesn't revert to non-SPM mode but with new and old Knight rider merchandise (especially affordable) being sparse at best, I will not complain a lick about this little jewel! They did true justice to KITT in a MM fashion :) I just wish I could find the non-SPM version as well!

*Side note* For those of you who haven't gotten theirs, it comes with a sticker sheet (Dash/monitor, tail lights, driving lights, license place) I took mine apart to get the dash stickers on, but that was just me.

here's a pic of the dash...

I managed to place every single microscopic decal on crooked.and cut my finger while opening the box.I'm not one for papercuts but scissors will do the trick.Karr's driver side idoor interior fell out as soon as I opened it.This is what I think of as kitt vs karr season 5.

I have the minimates Delorean with a Marty McFly figure and the time machine has decals too and the dash ones were so hard to do I had to take it apart to get a better angle at them

Has anyone had any luck finding them at Toys R Us yet? I checked my local store over the weekend and they don't have them. Their website doesn't show anything either.
