knight rider intro question

Post by stelios_z28 » Fri Oct 09, 2009 9:52 am

in the original knight rider opening sequence we see kitt coming from a distance at el mirage dry lake passing through under the camera and then the next scene is front of kitt.can anyone tell me why in that specific scene kitt's scanner has only 6 bulbs and all the other scenes are with 8 bulbs?

I would assume that since the footage is tinted purple in post-production, the crew also had to go in and reilluminate the scanner so it looked as bright as possible from that angle. Being an angle from a distance, it was probably not necessary to illuminate every single bulb to get the desired effect. The other shots are more close-ups, so it's easier for them to go over each bulb.

My friend Craig Leary was the actual driver for KITT on the regular & SPM KITT intro's.
He provided insider photos that he had taken during the time he spent at El Mirage, as it turns out the SPM
he used had no working dash and the scanner was extremely crude.
I posted the fact that I made Knight Rider calenders with behind the scenes photos of KITT in SPM & regular mode.
The calendar even has the scaffolding that the cameras were mounted on & many other never before shown pics.
The sale of the calendars will contribute to Childrens Miracle Network as well.

This is one of many pics that show behind the scenes of how those intro shots were done.
I hope that this will give an idea of just how unique the calendar through this and the other eleven photo's.

Alex & Stelios_x28 I appreciate the kind words.
There are still some calendars left so that you can experience that and eleven other great photo's
at 8X11 its a good size.
If you would like one e-mail me @ waknight2@msn.com and I will give you my address.
Each calendar is twenty dollars and for those in the U.S. the postage is five dollars your area of the world it would be seven dollars or you.
Thanks for the interest and takecare,
