Screenshot of KITT's door panel medallion

Post by corlando52 » Thu Apr 02, 2009 8:04 pm

For those of you who care, I finally found a good, clear picture of the door medallions that are on KITT's door panel, covering the old window crank hole. This shot comes from Deadly Maneuvers, about 15 minutes and 27 seconds into the episode.

That's cool but you know what's even hrder to spot.Any sign of an ignition keyhole.

Yep, you're right! But now I'll have to be on the lookout for that. I've never seen Michael with a key, either. But we know he's got to have one, because in the pilot, KITT chastises him for "leaving my door open, with the key in the ignition..."

Michael hands Mark Taylor KITT's keys in "Knights of the Fast Lane". Also, to see KITT's ignition, check out KITT's gutted interior in "Junk Yard Dog" and the scene where Michael meets up with Boyd LaSalle to give him the deadly chemical in "Knight in Disgrace".

Hey, Joe! Thanks for those references, buddy! I'll check them out. Now, here's one for you. The overhead console of Season 1, with the six words overhead. Where can you find a good, clean shot of the words, and what were they?
The best I've found, but you can't read the words, is in Knight of the Pheonix, when KITT breaks into the jail cell and Michael is on the hood.

Joe,
I checked out Knights of the Fast Lane and saw the keys, but in Knight in Disgrace, Michael pushes a white "Power " Button to start KITT, telling KITT it's no time to hold a grudge.

Hey Chris,

Thats the wrong scene. Check out where Michael meets up with Boyd at the helicopter. You see him pull up and there's a wide shot and you can see Michael turning KITT off using ignition keys. It's not a close up shot but it's there.

Joe,
OK...I've watched that scene a couple of times but didn't check out Michael turning KITT off using the keys.
Have you found any scenes that show the Season 1 overhead words?

It's this scene:

Image

I made a slight mistake - you can't see the keys, but you can see Michael reach up behind the pod units to turn the car off.

As far as the season 1 overhead words, this is the best I can find at this moment:

Image

I might have a better picture somewhere else.

Thanks for those pictures. It's nice to know it's in the same place as a regular Firebird. I guess you have to reach under the dash and switchpods to get to it.
OK, so, that's settled. I hate to be a bug, but how about the overhead console words? Anything?

I think it's publicity / press photo, there's also colour version of it.
The voicebox and autocruise, normal cruise, pursuit lights are all blue/white without letters and on top of my head I can't remember any other episode than Deadly Maneuvers where KITT's voicebox was like that so maybe it's taken when that episode was filmed?

Can you tell me what those 6 words say? That's what I'm trying to find out.

I have this black&white dashpic in hi-resolution, I cropped just the overheadconsole from it and attached it here. The words aren't still very clearly readable but hope it helps.
The original full resolution pic is from knightreplicas.com

Excellent! Thank you! It looks like Eric got it right! He's made me the overlays for Brenon's overhead electronics, and here's what he came up with:

Here is where the key.ignition would be in KITT (TOS) i doubt that TOS would have moved the ignition.

This pic is taken from a replicas car.

Cool! That's a vivid image. Is this from the original series or the remake?

I know a person who has, as it is written on e plate in the car, an original KITT.
Don't know if it is really a original as the should be destroyed, but the certificate is from Universal.

How ever, there is the Key like in one of the pictures in this thread (the one with the arrow).

It is not very easy the reach the key.
