Bah! Two replies as I was editing it. >_<

I already mentioned them, GST said awhile back at Comi-con that it would come up and function as an air brake, something similar to the panels on the original KITT in SPM when KITT came to a stop as well as the spoiler having a height adjustment. Neither of which we ever saw happen.

EDIT: Make that three, heh.

Well, airbrake for one.

Not sure if this was mentioned in Kitts Tech Specs, can also be detached and used by Mike for surfing and when Sarah gets fed up, comes in handy as a futuristic ironing board. :D

Something to do with the material its made from, Easy Glide or something lol

Hmm, so it was 300MPH then? I remember something about the TA body being designed to reach those kind of speeds but I couldn't remember exactly if that was ever used in the original series and just left it out with something a bit more conservative. Then I guess that would mean KITT's top speed in SPM was 420MPH...

I think 300 mph was the top speed on the dash on season 2 and 3
250mph season 1 and 2 on the dash

I think that if it comes to UK to a major netowrk then it would probably confirm it. BBC already take heroes and some other shows from NBC. Although i dont think that knight rider is suited for BBC so they would need a different channel. There is a lot of supoort for it in UK but I think networks here arent picking it up because it is an increasingly difficult economic climate plus many jobs / shows are being cut here on several channels (networks). It is unlikely that knight rider will makes it to UK very soon this year however if they get a second season its possible that we will recieve it.

In regrads to Gary Scott Thompson's reference to "other functionality" would have to be... let me get the quote right "It's the car, Chicks dig the car" Becuase in my opinon that is the only possible reason for a wing that big.
It looks cool is about the only functionality it could have, not an air brake as actually suggested by the HOG (Ho**ey Old Guy) Mr.GST.

Do you think that the air brake idea was conceived by GST in the early days and probably WAS on the cards but was curbed later on by budgetary cutbacks?

I would say thats a good possibilty. If you recall KI2T in super pursuit mode used body panels as a prt of his braking system. So it is concievable that GST planed something similar but lack the funding to see it through.

Wow, has THIS thread strayed off topic.... I'm okay with that, I just find it strange how these things evolve.

Sci-Fi channel in Portugal huh? Wonder if this channel is owned by NBC Universal like the US Sci-Fi. I for one would wanna see Knight Rider on Sci-Fi US if the network removes it from NBC.

Yes, it is one of the several internationalized versions of the Sci-Fi Channel owned by NBC Universal.

I just hope that NBC will pay attention to how Knight Rider does internationally first, they have been around long enough to know that a huge percentage of a TV shows income is from international markets. I mean look at FOX for example when it comes to The Simpsons, the only reason why FOX is still keeping The Simpsons going is because it is very popular globally. NBC recently renewed Heroes so I guess the reason for that is because it is popular globally even though it's ratings are low in the US. Over here in the UK I doubt that the BBC will pick up Knight Rider, my guess is the most likely broadcasters over here will be one of the following:

1. Channel 4 or one of it's sister channels such as E4 which shows Smallville, Scrubs, The Big Bang Theory and ER.
2. Virgin1 or Bravo which are both owned by Virgin Media Television, Bravo used to show the original Knight Rider so it may show the new one too. Virgin1 airs Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles so they might show Knight Rider when the second season of Sarah Connor Chronicles finishes airing.
3. ITV or one of it's sister channels. For example ITV2 shows Supernatural.
4. Five or one of it's sister channels such as Fiver or Five US.
5. Sci-Fi maybe but I'm not sure even though NBC Universal owns it.

We'll have to cut back on our double standards of drooling over the possibility of a renewal, while at the same time we crucify those involved."

I don't think its unfair at all, PHOENIXZERO mentioned a few things GST said that never happened like the air brake, lots of jumping and letting us know what happened to FLAG, to make you feel better I can shower GST with praise. Thank you oh great GST for taking a few minutes out of your busy day which includes making a joke out of our beloved KR and numerous feeding frenzies to keep our hopes up for a little longer.

You wont find any double standard on my part because I do not drool over the possibility of renewal but will continue to crucify those involved because they are fools who have no idea what KR is about. Look at the what they did with the KARR episode, no character building at all and we see him for 2 minutes, way to go GST/company maybe if he returns again you can cut his screen time to less than a minute.

Please be reminded that the battle scene was supposed to be substantially longer, and the conversation between KITT and KARR was supposed to make good sense in character terms. But NBC cut it. Don't blame the wrong people.

I am aware of that but to me the final battle is supposed to be the climax and during the entire buildup the audience should see and hear KARR so we can see that he is an equal to KITT. He is just as powerful as KITT but also evil and manipulative, a true threat to everybody incuding KITT, this is how a KITT vs KARR episode should be and this is how the previous two were like. If is these so called "Professionals" can't grasp this rudimentary concept then to me they are useless.

In sweden its on air on Prime time on one of our Free to see channels.
They are doing a great work on the comercial for it. Showing it atleast a couple of times per day. It was at it's peak before the first episode.

I don't have any ratings as of right now, ill try to fix some :)

This information might be different from what NBC is doing, but the team behind the show has no word. It's evident that there is more at play here than ratings, and Knight Rider's fan base, plus international support will be huge.

How does the fact that Paul Campbell has been signed to this "No Heroics" show on ABC change what GST said about the cast not being released? Is this news as bad as I think it is?

by the looks of things, i am gussing that NBC will judge KR's after the whole world watched season 1.
they might analyse the viewership rating from the whole world then they might decide on kr's fate.
If they do so. nbc might inform their decicion later on july or august.
thanks for the update neps

A budget is a budget!! I replied to someone bitching about NBC in another thread on here so I won't go into as much detail, but the decision to cut the scene down could've been anybody's! Everyone is jumping on NBC... well, they're the ones who ponied up the dough for the most extensive TV programme advertising campaign ever (which still didn't pay off), they're the ones who still gave the show more episodes even though the ratings were half that of the pilot, and they were also the ones who forced the changes in direction to make it more like the original which we've been enjoying so much (as confirmed in an interview with GST in Sci-Fi Now mag). Don't blame them, they've tried to save the programme after the disastrous creative direction it went in thanks to GST.

Pre-viz shots like those we've seen on YouTube are common in every film or TV show that uses CGI, to give the directors/producers/writers something to work with in rewritting and editing instead of just their imaginations. CGI costs a LOT of money and pre-viz lets the creative teams decide on exactly the shots needed before paying for them. Also, the shots of KITT and KARR were fantastic looking, beyond anything seen elsewhere in the series and my guess is they cost more, so if trimming back needed to be done then so be it. Pre-viz always gets cut down to a managable level no matter the show or film, people need to stop blaming NBC for everything or else why would they want to give us a second year if this is what our reactions are: "blame NBC, everything's their fault!"
