About the "KNIGHT" License Plate

Post by neps » Fri Feb 20, 2009 1:27 pm

So many of you noticed that KITT now has a KNIGHT plate at times. Nice eagle eye. It turns out that the man responsible is Steve Whiteside the Propmaster on Knight Rider. (Sue interviewed him on set back in December http://knightrideronline.com/news/2008/ ... teside.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

So funny little story in this email I recieved from him:
Hey Neil... anybody notice the license plate on KITT when Mikey Knight and KITT left the Romper Room looking set decorated SCC. That was all my doing and producer begging... K N I G H T is back.... SW
So lets all thank Steve!

Steve also said he'll be at the Knight Rider Festival on Saturday. Steve's worked on over 100 episodes of Knight Rider, so will be great to have him there.

Thanks Steve! It's not always the big flashy things but the small nods to the original that we all appreciate. :good:

IIRC wasn't Steve also asking the producers to bring back the semi?

How sweet would that be to see in possible season 2?

Great work, Steve. Interesting reference to "producer begging", wonder who that was?

Does anyone know for certain why the car can't have a KNIGHT plate all the time?

I'd say they just don't feel they have enough time/money too make them up for every transformation and scene.

Steve mentioned he had to beg with Gary for it so I'm almost certain Gary knows about it but it didn't rank high enough in the priorities.

As long as we see it once every episode I am happy though :).

Most probably, if the show returns for a 2nd season, I think they'll be using the KNIGHT plate permanently.

I've gotta admit, I didn't catch this little detail at first, but rest assured I will be looking!

This is so kickass! :)
