KRO User Badges> Who would want one for KR Festival?
I'm mocking up some user badges so we will be able to identify each other at events such as KR Festival and get insight from other fans before you even talk to them. It helps break the ice and lets you know some up front info at KRO events, meets, or even any car club meet. If your the only one with one people like to ask What is that? Where did you get it? I know wearing it around your neck all the time would be ridiculous but just throwing it on your dash will help promote things KR and if you haven't heard geek is "in". The badges will look similar to this measurement of around 3x6 and using thick laminated glossy photo paper but this is not the final cut as if I have a lot of demand I might need sponsorship and such.
Notice that there are two spots for your info this will be referred to which series you are a biggest fan of. It will also include a red rope lanyard
If you are interested just post here and how many you would need. If you want one mailed to you right now the cost will be $3USD each and you can just PM me your info and address and i will use the same font as on the Id's but I hope I can just get these sponsored and have them available free.
I will also be working on some one color decals if the interest is there.

Re: KRO User Badges> Who would want one for KR Festival?
They seem a little long. Or is the point to cut them in half? I have one from Comic Con, its about 4" x 4" and is attached with a safety pin. Even that size is a tad to big to wear around.
I'd want it to have each persons avatar along with their user name. I also think it should say Knightrideronline, as there will be other web boards there and people may have different user names on different board.
Did you check with the people who did the original artwork? Me hopes.

It's an excellent idea.
Why is it that gigantic cons, like Comic Con, have no originality to them. Every year, the same logo with data and bland city.
Now, smaller cons that I frequent go all out for a keep sake badge. Hince, why I like this idea so much.

Re: KRO User Badges> Who would want one for KR Festival?
The image is big to help with design. Like I said these are just a rough draft. I want something that will be noticeable and you can put it in your back pocket but like I said 3x6 long is my ideal size.Sue wrote:They seem a little long. Or is the point to cut them in half? The avatar idea is good but I would have to make sure everyone pre ordered. And if I have to do more than 25 I'd have to find more time.
I tried to find a cool Knightrideronline font but I thought the bottom image would suffice but I will put it on there.
I cleared this through Neil. If you think I should contact anyone else let me know.
Thanks for the input guys I'll run another draft up sometime today.

Re: KRO User Badges> Who would want one for KR Festival?
The Handel Font Family is what they used in the original Knight Rider credits and is very readable. You might want to consider using that for your badge fonts. Other fonts used in KR were MicroGamma, Eurostile Extended Bold, and Alt Gothic Bold (season 3/4 dash)
Here is Handel:
http://www.fontfinder.ws/14271/Handel-Gothic.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Search around the net -- you can find it for free.
I also agree with the others points regarding your intial design -- When I made my badges for SDCC, I made them around 5in x 3.5in but I also designed them to be worn with a lanyard and these badges worked out great for me.
Here's an example of my double sided badge - note that I keep my text away from the edges so it doesn't get trimmed off.
Here is a photo Neil took of me wearing my badge with Deanna Russo at SDCC
You would most likely want a single image on both sides so the info is always visable. Badges like mine flip around constantly.
Whether you're doing a badge like mine or a smaller one that is pinned to your shirt, keep your text bold and clearly visable. Don't use colors that conflict (like yellow on white background or colors that are too close in tone/hue to one another like bright red/medium red) and you should do fine. I know you want to show the two KITT cars but try not to be too redundant with it - find a middle ground. Keep in mind that no matter what, it's your text information that people will search for first and then your imagery.
Hope that helps out and good luck.

Re: KRO User Badges> Who would want one for KR Festival?
Here's a sort of rough stretch of my idea. Sorry for not clearing the images first, I'm just kinda brainstorming. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the color red but I think KITT is so I'll run with it.

Someone sent me this, so I fiddled a bit more to get it to a 3 x 4 size. And got the font I meant to use. How about something like that?

Re: KRO User Badges> Who would want one for KR Festival?
that's a good one sue! i had an idea similar to that.. except it had the cars at the top, and extended the desert-scape to the bottom and had the name/avatar down there. but i like yours better then what i was thinking about.
though i'd rather have it on a laniard, easier to mess with since i think i will have to wear my press pass there which is also on a laniard.

I am personally a fan of vertical Can you make one like that, sue?
EDIT: I would recommend VK's suggestion of the Handel font. It is easier to read. KR font is choppy sometimes.

Oh and PS, as to the Rubens font, I put an effect on it to soften it out some. But I could still change it.

Okay how bout this. I went with HUD like shape for the boarder and I switched over to the Handel Gothic font.
