Confused on kitt BUMPER need advice...

Post by alonzo » Sun Feb 01, 2009 9:59 pm

Hey everyone, im Alonzo, new to this site, but look forward to hearing from everyone on here. So heres my dillema im confused about getting a kitt bumper for my car. I have a 3rd gen firebird ready to go so i wanna start with the exterior first and well ive seen all Kitt cars with the fog lights on the bottom. However ive seen this one kitt car that has no fog lights but what looks to be a closed bumper, meaning no holes on it. My question is , is that a special order bumper?? Does anybody else have there kitt car that way? does it look better in person? an lastly i guess where can i get it?? ive heard of Rob Louisell an Knight passions, so if you guys that have previous purchases dont mind, please help me out. Here is a youtube link of the car im talking bout, To me it looks better closed bumper with no fog lights but i dunno if thats how they come an u make the holes yourself or what.,check it out an PLEASE let me know.also if anyone knows anywhere to get kitt bumpers new or used....

Usually I think all KITT Replica had foglights, even first season they had a cover to hide the lights.

Hey Alonzo. It looks like that KITT you posted youtube links for actually does have the front fog light openings cut out. I can see a bit of the ground showing through in one of the angles. I prefer the fog light look, but I'll be putting some grills in front of them to hide them just a little. Also, third gen Trans Ams are known for overheating, so covering the front openings on the nose completely would be hazardous to your engine. :kittside:

Wraithinnovations is the way to go man, looks like they got the best bumpers for the money! Has anybody purchased one of those yet? If so what is the quality like?

If you interested in knight rider replica conversions please go to http://www.knightregistries.com/forum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; they are very knowledgeable.
I would go with Ken's aka wraith innovations. he makes a great GTA bumper and you can keep your turn signals in your stock location. More room for fog lights hehe.

Please PM me for any more questions you have.

Ken / Wraith's bumpers are amazing... I did a thorough review on KnightRegistries...

Here are some pics, don't mind the bit of wide opening, my car needs to be massaged by a body man, but the bumpre is fine, just some aligning of my car... Oh & Marc's looks amazing too...

Also, the fog lite openings, if they are not boxed in, the bumper flexes a lot...

Thanks Raf... I think your one of them that knows what I went through to make it that way. ALOT of work.... Your nose looks great... Ken does superb work and is very willing to work with people. Anybody cannot go wrong with getting one of his noses... I know Billy at Knight Designs.org is making one as we speak, and let me tell ya....super so far. His craftmanship is unreal and he also is a very nice guy to work with. There are alot of vendors out there, but please , please, if your going to do a replica, do the homework on all of them, and remember, this stuff takes time ,most of the time to get. Be patient and like I said, please do the homework... Thanks again Raf

ive checked with a few vendors. apparently on most of them there is a wait of atleast 3 months.I really fell in love with the Wraith Innovations 4th season bumper but i dont think i could wait around 3 or more months. 1 month or 2 at most.I want Kitt Ready ASAP Marc i really like your bumper how long would the wait be for yours???

That bumper looks just awesome! That has to be the closest to the real deal as you can get!

My advice, don't be in a rush to settle for something you don't really want... It's just time... it's really expensive to buy something twice, or 3 times... I'm talking from experience :)

Looks great Bo. I've watched your progress from the start and it looks really nice. There's another bumper for ya Alonzo! There are a few to pic from. Maybe somebody can post a pic of Joao's and others that are in the works. It all depends how you view the nose and what your personal taste in the bumpers are. Just remember ,All of them are what the sculpter saw in the bumper. You have to do the choosen, and until somebody comes out with an original 1st,2nd,and 3rd bumper, they are all visions of what everybody sees in the KR bumper. Scheffe was very clever on this, and one #ell of a designer/engineer. His vision of this car are just tremendous. I can't wait to meet him in Vegas, along with all the other celebs that are going to be there, oh and everybody that is going also(of course!)Can't wait!So Alonzo, I think you have some research to do ! Good luck , and hope you find what your looking for in a bumper. I wish you well.

See ya later and good luck
Marc
