For those of you who want to do a K3000 model

Post by Dave Knight » Sun Feb 01, 2009 12:07 am

I was at a hobby store in buffalo and they had a TON of 1/25 scale plastic model kits based on the 2005-2009 mustang. one of them was a GT-500KR :good:. Other than the stripes on the hood and side decals are silver or white (hard to tell with box art) it can easily be used to make a replica of the NEW KITT . it is TOO new to be on ebay but if you do not have a hobby store in your area you can order it here.

They also have the following kits based on the stang :good:

Stock 2006 Mustang GT hard top
Stock GT-500 hard top
Shelby GT-H hard top
2008 'Bullitt' special edition hard top
and the previously mentioned GT-500KR

as for the stripes being the wrong color. there are people out there who make custom decals and stripes in different colors. Keith Marks is one of them, he does not offer GT-500 or GT-500KR decals, yet but i am sure he will, just email him and tell him you need em in flat black ;). And if you are doing models of ANY other cars past or present, check out his decals they are nice and well done :good:.

no it is molded in white plastic with chrome parts, clear parts, and red clear parts. I just realized for those of you who don't even LIKE the flat black stripes on the K3000 you can just leave em off :good:

Revell/Monogram yes, and it is a VERY well done model. I have the 06 GT mustang kit too. I have a buddy of mine who makes custom decals for model car projects. I have already scanned the 'shelby stripes' that go on the hood, roof, trunk and sides and he is gonna re do them in a dark gray for me for my future KITT project. it will be SO cool having the 80s KITT next to the 08 KITT :good:.

Thanks for the heads up! Just bought my future KI3T model. I got a set of silver stripes as well as black stripes. I'm thinking of going back next week to get another model to make KARR with the silver stripes. I am actually in the process of making KARR from the 2000 edition of KITT by AMT.
